This was my first time creating an Essential App, and honestly, it was a really fun and refreshing experience. Trying something completely new like this felt creative and exciting. I truly appreciate the effort and hard work put in by the Nothing team — the interface was simple, clean, and very easy to understand, even for someone using it for the first time.
What I loved the most about Essential Apps is that they focus on personal experience and real day-to-day usage. This is something many of us need today: small tools that solve meaningful moments in our lives instead of being overloaded with unnecessary features. It really feels like a step towards making technology more human and more fun again.
During the process, I did face a few minor issues:
I wanted to replace my Edit button with an icon to save some space, but it kept showing an “error.”
I tried changing the subject name from Data Science to A.I. because of space restrictions, but again, it showed an error. Even when I manually tried to change it through the syntax, the update did not reflect in the app.
At those moments, it did feel a little frustrating, especially when you are close to finishing something and small things don’t work as expected. However, despite these issues, the platform still helped me achieve almost 95% of what I had imagined, which is impressive for a first experience.
One more issue I noticed was that I got signed out from the Essential App login and had to wait in the waiting list again, even though I had already logged in around 5–6 days earlier. This was a bit confusing, but I hope it improves as the platform evolves.
Overall, I really respect the efforts and dedication of everyone working on this. I can genuinely say that creating Essential Apps is a little addictive - once you start, you just want to try more ideas and explore new possibilities.
In a nutshell, this is a great initiative by Nothing to make technology feel creative, personal, and meaningful again. I truly enjoyed this experience and would love to experiment with more Essential Apps in the future.
