Technology advances very quickly every year we have more powerful and efficient processors and with this the software adapts to the hardware.

For me it is pure marketing of companies offering long periods of updates just to keep their customers happy, but they forget the quality that will be of a nothin phone 2 when you pass those 5 years, I assure you that it will be slow or lacking certain functions that You will not be able to operate well due to your already obsolete hardware

I am satisfied with the company and I see that they compare many characteristics of other brands, but that is the beauty of this large market, we have to choose if they do not like the proposal, go with another brand, of course there are deficiencies in nothing but if they really want It is better to ask for a company with common sense, not like children throwing a tantrum because they don’t put or do things the way they want.

I agree with your point but if you make a search yourself you can find that snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 is a chipset which is capable of even handling 5 years of software update. In such a case the brand should be providing atleast a 4 years of OS update. That is a basic necessity of a user.

As an Indian user , most Indians uses a device to its maximum lifetime. So it will be a good decision if they bring 1 more OS year for their users.

      RapidZapper

I agree that it is an Android 12 processor. But it was used from Android 13 so technically 1 year of OS update can be added by the manufacturing brand by requesting to Qualcomm

BassimBinYoosaf have you used or seen performance comparisons of 8 plus gen 1 with the current one, I still insist that the time they ask for is too much, it would greatly affect the quality of the product

And about the use of India, I understand that it is not easy to change as often as in other countries, which is usually easier given their economies, but brands are not creating only for their country.

Apple has its own processors and they are among the most powerful and offer up to 6 years of updates, but when you take an iPhone 16 and compare it with a 12 you see that the performance and functions are very different despite running the same operating system, so I defend and I still think that five years is a long time for me, the maximum would be 4 years and the ideal would be 3.

Bro I am not asking for a 5 years of software update. I am asking for 4years of software and 5 years of security update. I can understand that 5 years is a bit more and might destroy the overall usage .

But my point was that it is capable of handling 5 years and we users are getting only a 3 years of os update and 4 years of security update.

Bro I am requesting not demanding. I am requesting for a feature which I feel would be very beneficial for people’s in my country. But this may also help people’s from other countries also.

And I am aware that Nothing is a new brand and i respect their works and effort to make the user happy. But that doesn’t mean I can’t make a feature request.

BassimBinYoosaf Honestly, this is no longer seen as a simple request, that’s why I say they demand too much and if you browse the forum you will see what I mean and if the people from your country are the ones who make the most “requests or complaints” , but I feel that it is not the way, I believe that patience and support, give them the benefit of the doubt and for the moment accept what they offer. He assured you that offering more years is on his mind but for the moment It is not possible, there are more important problems to focus on that currently affect us, such as camera calibration improving general stability.

I DEMAND 5 YEARS FOR THE CHEAPMOFO 1.

              CheapMoFo1 users unite!!!!!

2 years OS updates is weak and now I’m half way through!

                AlexSilva1520

Bro if you feel like you don’t want such a feature it is not that no one wants it. With all respect, if a whole request chats is created for asking such a feature it doesn’t mean that I’m asking for Indian users alone. Please understand there are many others who also think it would be good if they provide 4 years . But the only difference between them and me is that I brought some real life examples and showed it can be done. And I don’t think I was being disrespectful. I was speaking for me and some other users in this chats and that doesn’t makes you disrespectful.

BassimBinYoosaf I would like those features but I am realistic and I don’t see a way to guarantee good quality with what the company currently is

and the tests you give are really not realistic, you are comparing nothing with the ability that Samsung has, for example, to offer support over the years, it is impossible with the current conditions of nothing

                    AlexSilva1520

Bro I am not simply speaking without any evidences just refer the sources that I have attached in the previous replies. It is technically possible to extend the software policy.

CMF1_hacker yes but you forget that you bought a budget phone, you can’t buy a phone with specific update policy and then ask for more it’s don’t work this way

                        RapidZapper

Bro the phone was released in Android 13. So technically the software policy starts from Android 13 .So if it is extended it should actually get Android 17 .

Then how is it extended. I don’t understand. Could you please explain bro

CMF1_hacker maybe but it very hard to find custom roms and install them on mediatek devices, until that time you will change yours device for sure 😅

Anonymous717 They’re already out there, just take a look at XDA.

It’s been about 5 years since I owned a MediaTek chip (a P23), does it have to do with MediaTek not releasing chip specs, I can’t remember.

I was on Xiaomi.EU on a HK import until my children destroyed that phone.
