Hey Community,
When we set out to shoot the music video for my latest track, Janta nahi kaun tera bhai, featuring Samraath and Hazari, we wanted to prove a point: you don’t need a cinema rig to capture a mood. We decided to push the CMF Phone 2 Pro to its absolute limit by shooting almost exclusively on the 50MP Telephoto lens.
Why the Telephoto? (The Technical Side)
Most mobile videos rely on the wide lens, which can often feel “flat” or too much like a standard phone clip. By switching to the 2X optical zoom (50mm equivalent), we unlocked a few key cinematic advantages:
Lens Compression: The telephoto pulls the background closer to the artist, making the environments feel more intimate and “grand” at the same time.
Natural Bokeh: Unlike software-driven Portrait Mode, the 50MP sensor’s optics provided a gentle, natural roll-off between Samraath, Hazari, and the background.
Detail Preservation: Using the dedicated 50MP sensor meant we weren’t just “cropping in” on a digital image. We maintained the skin textures and clothing details that give the video its high-end look.
The Human Element: Staying Steady
Since the CMF Phone 2 Pro relies on EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) rather than OIS, shooting at 2X zoom was a challenge of patience and precision.
Every micro-shake is magnified when you’re zoomed in. We treated the phone like a physical film camera—using slow, deliberate body movements and “ninja walking” to keep the frames stable. This lack of OIS actually forced us to be more intentional with our compositions; we couldn’t just “point and shoot,” we had to craft each moment.
The Result: A New Perspective
Shooting this way transformed the raw, industrial aesthetic of the track into something polished. It’s a testament to the TrueLens Engine 3.0—the light and shadow rendering handled the contrast between the artists’ performances and the environment beautifully.
