Hello Nothing Team and Community,
I’m currently using the Nothing Phone (3) – European variant, and over the past few days I’ve been experiencing a serious overheating and battery drain issue that seems to be directly related to Wi-Fi usage.
This problem has never happened before, but recently it started occurring frequently.
What’s happening
- The phone temperature rises significantly.
- Battery drains very quickly.
- The issue appears only while connected to Wi-Fi.
What I tested
I tried several things to identify the cause:
1. Restarted the phone while the issue was happening – temporarily helps, but the issue returns.
2. Checked background apps – nothing unusual running.
3. Checked battery usage statistics – no app appears to be responsible.
Important observation
When I use the phone outside on mobile data, everything works perfectly:
- No overheating
- Normal battery usage
But as soon as I use Wi-Fi, the problem appears again.
Router check
To rule out router problems, I tested another device on the same Wi-Fi network:
- Another Nothing device (Nothing Phone 1) works completely fine on the same router.
- No heating or battery drain.
So this seems specific to the Nothing Phone (3) rather than the network.
Additional context
I’ve also experienced Wi-Fi related issues on this device since the beginning, which makes me believe there may be a software or firmware problem affecting Wi-Fi stability or power management.
For reference, I’ve used several Nothing devices before:
- Nothing Phone (1)
- Nothing Phone (2)
- Nothing Phone (2a)
None of them had this kind of issue on the same network.
Request to the Nothing Team
Please investigate this Wi-Fi related overheating and battery drain issue on Nothing Phone (3) and consider addressing it in the next software update.
If other users are experiencing similar problems, it would be helpful to share your experience here so the issue can get more attention.
Thank you.
