lolifnotely🇮🇱 Nothing OS is Android with customisations. It’s as similar in features to Pixel UI (also Android) as you can get (not counting Pixel-specific features or those region locked to North America). I’m a former Pixel 8 Pro user, in fact all I ever used were Nexus phones, then Pixel phones, and now the Nothing (3a) as my first non-Google phone (if we count old Nexus devices as Google phones).
They (Pixel UI and Nothing OS) are factually identical except in cosmetic appearance. Whatever Pixel has (if it’s not locked to only Pixels or to North America), Nothing also has, and it operates, looks (not necessarily aesthetically), and performs identically because those are AOSP features and Google maintains and develops AOSP. Nothing OS is a customised AOSP. I jumped from Google Pixel to Nothing simply because I wanted a new phone, I didn’t need it. As I got bored by being locked out of major selling points for Pixels, because I do not live in North America. The rest is more-less the same, Nothing is sexier in how it looks.
With Nothing OS 5.0 I do not expect from Nothing to suddenly stop following Pixel’s footsteps after five years, make a sharp 180 and suddenly become yet another Bloat UI with terrible Apple-like aesthetics (like Honor, Xiaomi, Vivo and similar brands). If that ever happens I’m jumping back to Pixels. But many people around here want exactly that to happen, yet they’re strictly refusing to buy a random Honor, Xiaomi, Vivo or, hell an iPhone, and have that immediately accessible right now, this moment, today.
