Nothing offers the option to record and save videos using the H.265 codec, so why doesn’t it also allow saving photos in the HEIC format in addition to JPEG? The storage savings would be significant while maintaining the same image quality (and even slightly better with HEIC). If the issue is compatibility with social networks or certain websites, users could simply choose JPEG for photos they want to publish and HEIC for personal photos they want to archive.
