Unboxing:
Phone 4a arrived! After testing it for a few weeks, I’m really shocked at what this phone can offer at such a nice price tag! For just £349 to £399 for the bigger storage variant, I’m genuinely shocked how much this device has to offer! I previously owned the Nothing phone (1) and phone (2) and have been super happy to test the brand new 4a! I really appreciate being selected to review and give feedback for the new device.

xing every Nothing product, you get that smooth slow rip of the seal which makes you appreciate the unboxing and slows you down to enjoy opening the device.
I’ve never actually owned an (a) series product before so this was a first new change for me! Phone (1) was my first then phone (2) and since then, it has been great to see the Nothing designs evolve over time!
Upon opening the box and unfolding it like a book, there is the brand new phone 4a in the black colourway sat there looking out at me 😍
After carefully peeling it out of its paper, I was really shocked as to how the 4a black variant looked so good under natural sunlight! I’m never usually keen on black colourways as I think the white is where Nothing stands out but this is really nice for a sleek change!
I really love the design of the phone 4a! This was my first ever time getting a sleek black Nothing phone so it has been nice to use an alternative colourway!
Initial impressions:
My initial impressions of the device was how good it felt in hand to say it only costs £349! I love the phone 4a pro design but I definitely prefer the standard 4a design personally!
The battery easily lasts all day and a bit longer. I have been really shocked as I say again, for the price point that the battery lasts for a serious good length amount of time!
Glyph bar:
As a Nothing owner from phone (1) and phone (2), I’ve always seen a massive opportunity with the glyph interface.
I really appreciate the glyph bar because it’s not “in your face” compared to previous generations! It is simplistic yet sophisticated. It’s super easy to set a notification glyph so that you know who is messaging you when your phone is face down on the table.
The camera quality is also excellent for the price point, even in rather harsh lighting conditions the photos are great!
It has a great feel in the hand and looks really nice in sunlight! it’s nice to see a different/darker Nothing phone in my hand apposed to the usual bright colours! When the natural light shines on the back of the device, the small details that Nothing included is amazing!
Nothing OS:
Nothing OS has always been the excellent minimalistic yet clean experience with monochrome icons and widgets that we all love & enjoy! I always loved monochrome icons because we usually end up spending too much time and just dive into each app due to muscle memory and colours!
Since the phone (1) launch, I’ve used Nothing OS and it has been great to see how it’s got much better with Nothing listening to valuable customer feedback. It’s nice to see new additions to the essential space too!
As my whole review has been about honesty, I can honestly say that for the value of £899 for the 16/512GB variant, it would be really worth it. Yes there may be no glyph lights unlike phone (1) and phone (2) however phone (3) forms function - you can actually use the LEDs to tell you the time, use leveller and many other community created glyph matrix functions. The camera, the in hand feeling and the glyph matrix, if you love Nothing then what is not to love!
Final thoughts:
I’ve absolutely enjoyed being part of this review program and owning phone 4a for a short time. Hopefully my review helps you decide if you should get the device for yourself. I say if you want it, just get it! Absolute bargain for the price!
