Hi! Nothing Phone (3) user here…
Bought it on october 7, 2025. The battery on Nothing OS 3 was perfect, just PERFECT! But then, Nothing OS 4 came around, and I thought, man… This is a “brand new phone”, it’s their “flagship”, I’m sure they are not going to break something to the point of affecting basic functionality like the battery… Like Apple does all the time with each update, I come from an iPhone 16 (and yes, it was relatively new, but the battery on that one was that bad, that I just had to switch, I was fed up with iOS 26).
Thinking all that… I updated to Nothing OS 4, thinking the first days, or even weeks were going to be hard on battery, but it never actually stopped… Well I’m lying, it did improve after a month and a half after updating (never getting to the level of Nothing OS 3)… But then, just recently, it got worse again! Now I’m sitting here at 57%, with almost no usage… Only 2 hours of screen time, and it was not even Instagram or YouTube, which are demanding… No… Stuff like Chrome or Spotify maninly… And the rest of the day, all the time in idle… And I started my day at 100% battery around 8:30 am, now it’s 5:24 pm, and here I am at 57, well, sorry, 56% right now as it seems to be dropping doing literally notihng on my desk with no apps in the background! In Nothing OS 3 I would be at 75% still…
I think it is a problem with Nothing OS 4 itself, and I’m already tired of it… Not even 7 months since purchasing this thing and the idea of changing my phone again really has come to mind a few times… This is not acceptable for a new flagship phone like this one is supposed to be.
In my particular case, I think it also (appart from the Nothing OS 4 update itself) has to do with the Nothing Ear (3)… Back when I bought them the first time, I observed a similar behavior on battery, draining fast doing nothing, Ear (3) not connected, just in it’s case… But it was still draining…
Because I was having connectivity problems with this headphones, I decided to return them, and I kept using my old AirPods Pro 2 (the ones I used back when I was using my long gone iPhone 16)…. And the battery improved, and the Bluetooth conectivity was stable with this ones. Then I bought the Ear (3) again because I actually liked the sound, they are not as even and balanced as the AirPods Pro 2, but they have some good kick… And that’s, I think, when the battery went to trash again, and they still have the connectivity issues (intermitent interferences), only fixable via a Nothing Phone (3) reboot. And I’m not even using LDAC… I’m using AAC at 44100Hz 16bits… I know about this stuff… It is the same config my AirPods Pro 2 used… Should not be a problem but here we are… That’s another problem I’m having with this phone and Nothing’s ecosystem (If we should call it that).
Seriously, I think (and I hope) this are all software problems… I hope Nothing decides to fix them one day… But for now, I’m very sad actually… Very very sad, because this is basically what I had with my iPhone 16, obviously it was a bit worse on the iPhone side of things… But I have the same ocasional overheating I had with the iPhone 16 also on the Nothing Phone (3) just with the phone sitting in my pocket doing nothing… Not even listening to music and with the headphones disconnected… Just nothing…
Judging by Nothing’s silence with this matter, I would not expect anything from them any time soon… The support with me was as useless as it was with you @_ankyyyt … They did not offer any solution besides just asking for more information that, when provided, it really meant nothing to the case itself… They even attempted a follow up, which is fine, I guess, but after some time chatting I ended up asking them to close the case since we were getting nowhere…
At the end of the day… And if the economy doesn’t collapse thanks to a certain orange man in the US, I guess I’ll wait a little bit but will end up changing to a different phone again… And, as much as I hate it, because I love the OS look and feel, I doubt it will be another Nothing phone. Maybe a Samsung, or a Google Pixel one or who knows which… Whatever gets the best battery reviews, has the most efficient (not really that brute force powerful) CPU and also has the best, or among the best cameras in the market… But yeah, very disappointed so far.
(Oh, and sorry if there are any grammar errors… Not a native English speaker, I’m from Spain, did my best).
