Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing what appears to be a Bluetooth audio routing bug on my Nothing phone, and I’d like to know if anyone else has encountered the same issue.
Device Information
Device: Nothing Phone (3a Lite)
Nothing OS: 4.1
Build: Galaxian-B4.1-260508-1508-IND
Bluetooth Headset
Model: Remax RB-HB100
The issue
The headset connects normally and media playback works perfectly. The headset microphone is also detected correctly during phone calls.
However, for apps that record audio, the phone completely ignores the Bluetooth microphone and always uses the phone’s built-in microphone instead.
Apps affected
Voice Recorder
WhatsApp voice messages
Messenger voice messages
Discord
Other apps that record audio
Apps where the headset microphone works
Normal cellular phone calls
WhatsApp voice calls
This means the headset microphone itself is working correctly, but it is not being used by recording applications.
Troubleshooting already performed
I have already tried the following without success:
Forgetting and reconnecting the headset
Restarting the phone
Resetting Bluetooth and network settings
Verifying that “Phone calls” and “Media audio” are enabled
Changing Bluetooth Developer Options (AVRCP versions, A2DP hardware offload, etc.)
Confirming all microphone permissions are granted
None of these steps resolved the issue.
Why I believe this is a software compatibility issue
The same Remax RB-HB100 headset works perfectly on:
Another Android phone
iPhone
On those devices, the Bluetooth microphone is correctly used for:
Voice Recorder
WhatsApp voice messages
Messenger
Discord
So the headset hardware is functioning correctly.
Interestingly, on my Nothing Phone (3a Lite), the headset microphone works perfectly during cellular calls and WhatsApp voice calls, which confirms that the Hands-Free Profile (HFP) is working. The problem only occurs when apps try to record audio.
This makes me think there may be an issue with how Nothing OS 4.1 routes Bluetooth microphone input for audio recording applications.
Has anyone else experienced this?
If anyone using Nothing OS 4.1 has faced a similar issue with Bluetooth headsets, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience.
I also hope the Nothing team can investigate this, as it seems to be a software compatibility or audio routing issue rather than a hardware problem.
Thank you.
