Thinking About Switching Phones

Nach längerem Gebrauch sehr langweilig. Außer den Widgets gibt es nichts Aufregendes mehr. Jetzt komme ich ernsthaft auf die Idee, auf ein anderes Telefon umzusteigen.😏🥲 Die Community erwartete mehr Innovation von Nothing.

Very boring after long-term use.

There’s nothing exciting beyond the widgets anymore.

Now I’m seriously getting the idea to switch to another phone.😏🥲

The community expected more innovation from Nothing.

Nothing os is made with the similar purpose… it is made “less distractive ” and “boring” so user spend less time on non important things and don’t waste their time…

The main purpose of any existing OS is to manage hardware and provide a platform for apps to run, and to do that while staying out of the user’s way by not being a distraction or annoyance (lagging, crashing, etc.) when using your everyday apps. An OS’s purpose is not to be exciting, fun, or to tell jokes (Windows 11 is certainly “exciting” in that aspect though, as pretty much always has major issues after each update, but that’s beside the point).

If I want something exciting I’ll watch a movie or some TV show, I’ll play a game, or open VS Code and make something on my own. Or go outside for a bike ride to enjoy a nice day, or simply hang out with people I care about. I won’t expect from my phone to “make me excited”.

I don’t want to sound like a smartass here, sorry, but…

AkashAkash_rVg2ooxdN7 I am also thinking about switching, I had the Phone 1 for 2 years and now bought Phone 3. I liked Nothing very much.

But now it feels too boring and flat, the things once looks good now looks mid, because all other OS evolved very fastly.

Even the lockscreen customisation is not yet in Phone 3, while all other competitors already got the features a while ago.

Because I bought Phone 3 can’t switch right away, After maybe 2 years I will be switching to Pixel. It looks more fun

I understand the “less distracting” vision of Nothing OS.

But being minimal and being boring are two different things.

Users still expect fresh features, customization, and exciting updates over time.

A clean experience is good, but innovation also matters.

Minimalism is good, but minimal doesn’t have to feel repetitive.

People aren’t asking for heavy gimmicks — just more meaningful improvements over time.

Even small UI changes, better customization, and unique features can keep the experience fresh without ruining Nothing OS’s identity.

Right now many users feel the software experience isn’t evolving enough.

If you can’t say/suggest any features/innovation there is no point of starting discussions on similar topics, just like you did few weeks ago ..

Sounds like another problem to me: Just try to imagine using another phone and after a few months of using it, you will face the exact same feeling. Don’t start that circle of dopamine hunting and be grateful for what you have and ask yourself if you REALLY need another phone.

If you want to feel something fresh try some icon packs, new widgets, another launcher and so on 🙂

I get your point, and I agree that every phone can feel normal after some months.

But users aren’t asking for constant dopamine hits — just some evolution in the experience.

Nothing OS has a great identity already, so people naturally expect it to grow in more interesting ways over time.

Still, trying new setups, icon packs, and launchers is a good suggestion.

I haven’t had a better android experience. Love the lightweight Nothing OS. Fast zero app crashes. Don’t know what more you want your phone to do.

I understand what you mean, and honestly you do have a fair point.

Sometimes the feeling is more about wanting something fresh than actually needing a new phone.

I’ll probably try changing the setup and use it for some more time before deciding anything.

For me, my nothing 3a is the best. I know camera could be better but os experience is something else. I wanna use this phone for more than 3 years.

Would love to hear your innovation ideas, genuinely. I’ll admit I’m new to Nothing, so 4.1 is really my first experience (got my NP3 a few days before the update came out). But I think every OS stays relatively the same for long periods of time, it’s what build brand loyalty and identity.

As an Apple user the last 15+ years, iOS stopped innovating long long ago. They found a formula that people liked and just made small “Innovations” over time. Even the latest Android even appears to be mostly the same, even though it’s been deemed “the biggest update ever.” Oh cool, I can upload photos to Instagram without them looking like shit? Thanks for the groundbreaking innovation.
