Hello everyone,
I’ve been using the Nothing Phone (3a) Pro for nearly a year, and I’d like to share some areas where I believe significant improvements are needed.
📸 Camera
1. Inconsistent Camera Performance
The camera performance is very inconsistent. HDR processing often produces unnatural and disappointing results.
2. Muted Colors in Portrait Mode
Portrait photos tend to have dull and muted colors, making images look less vibrant than expected.
3. Camera UI Lag
The camera app frequently lags, especially in Portrait Mode and during rapid consecutive shots.
4. Average Video Quality
Video quality is not particularly impressive. When I use the Blackmagic Camera app, the colors, details, and overall output are noticeably better than the stock camera app.
5. Poor Skin Tone Processing
Skin tone reproduction for brown-skinned users is often inaccurate and unflattering.
6. Missing Video Features
- No Cinematic Video mode
- No 4K 60fps recording support
- Unable to switch lenses while recording in 4K 30fps
7. Weak Zoom Performance
Zoomed-in photos often lack detail and appear dull and soft.

🔋 Battery Life
Battery life has been disappointing.
I manually restrict background activity and background data usage for almost all apps, yet the phone continues to lose battery noticeably, even during idle periods.
---
🎨 User Interface
Occasionally, when I quickly close one app and tap another app icon, the previously closed app reopens instead. This creates an inconsistent user experience.
---
🤖 Lack of Special Features
Most smartphone brands now offer useful AI-powered features, but Nothing still lags behind in this area.
Additionally, the software lacks many of the extra productivity and customization features commonly found on Samsung Galaxy and Xiaomi devices.

⚠️ Final Thoughts
These are some of the issues prospective buyers should be aware of before purchasing this phone.
What makes this more frustrating is that most of these problems appear to be software-related and could potentially be fixed through updates. However, after nearly a year, many of these issues still remain unresolved.
It sometimes feels like Nothing focuses heavily on launching new devices while older devices receive less attention and slower improvements.
As customers, many of us are willing to accept modest hardware specifications because we believe in the brand’s vision and software experience. However, considering the premium price tag, we also expect long-term software optimization and support.
I hope Carl and the Nothing team take this feedback seriously and continue improving the user experience for existing users.
Thank you for reading.
