I am waiting for 2a as there were some leaks that the phone will be listed for €349 in the EU so I would assume in the UK would be something between £299 - £329 for 8GB version. This is right of my price range and it still will have decent specs. 🙂

It will really not be the same product. If you need performance, and you are playing game then you should definitely go the phone(2) as the (2a) will be a budget phone.
If you are tight with your budget and you seek for value, maybe you will need to wait for the phone (2a) 😉 wait for the reviews to see what people are thinking about it and you’ll know.

Phone 2 is more premium. 2a is more budget. I was in the same boat I went for the 2 a few days ago and I’m blown away. I’ve come from a galaxy 23+.

The battery life is better. It feels way more snappy. The added weight makes it feel more sturdy and robust

nfljunker if If you’re a typical user using your phone for Instagram, X, and WhatsApp, then 2a should be sufficient. However, it doesn’t necessarily mean 2a will be bad for gaming. According to rumors, it’s expected to be a mid-tier device, so the chipset might be a downgrade from Phone 2. Despite that, they claim 2a will be an improvement over Phone 1, offering a smooth UI with the same features. Keep in mind, though, that the mid-tier chipset could be decent for games but not for heavy and xtreme games ig, but this is what I am heard from rumours

    nfljunker You’re welcome. We now know the chipset in the 2a phone will be Dimensity 7200 Pro, will be efficient for multitasking. It’s energy efficient due to Tsmc 4nm nodes and should provide a smooth experience for daily social media use. It seems capable of running games like BgmI at a decent 60fps and similar performance in Genshin Impact, though there might be occasional frame drop issues. For basic tasks and heavy social media usage, it should be fine..

        nfljunker if you’re referring to Carls tweet, he said it’s not the 7200. It’s actually the 7200 Pro which is a customised chip built in collaboration with MediaTek themselves.
