I purchased version 16/512 back in April of this year.
I’d like to describe a number of issues and find a solution if anyone has encountered them.
The phone originally came with Nothing OS 3.5. I updated to 4.0. Now I have 4.1, the latest from June 2026 (Build-B4.1-260624-1457).
1) When listening to audio (this could be audio from a YouTube video, a third-party app like NewPipe, a video played through the browser, local audio files from the built-in YouTube Music app, or third-party apps like Namida (https://github.com/namidaco/namida), VLC, or Fossify Music Player (https://f-droid.org/ru…g.fossify.musicplayer/)) the speakers start crackling irregularly, usually after a reboot.
This can last for a few seconds, or a couple of minutes.
It’s unclear what causes it. I deliberately set up music playback for long periods of time, playing different tracks, at different volumes (low, medium, high), using different formats and apps. Sometimes this issue occurs, sometimes it doesn’t.
2) Equalizer issue. When enabled in any app (VLC’s built-in equalizer, Namida’s built-in equalizer, OpenTune’s built-in equalizer https://github.com/Arturo254/OpenTune, Wavelet equalizer), there’s a very sharp volume jump and crackling noise. The equalizer settings aren’t always applied—the sound remains the same as before. This applies to listening through speakers, wired Type-C headphones, DAC + 3.5mm headphones, and TWS (currently using Nothing Ear 2024).
3) Music volume control is strange, as if controlled by AI. I found a similar issue in the nothing community, but there was no solution (https://nothing.commun…thing-phone-3-speakers).
I’ve reset the phone to factory settings via Settings - System - Reset Options - Erase all data (factory reset) three times already (the first time was when I bought it, the second time the volume in the TWS headphones was broken (the slider was at maximum, but the volume in the headphones was at minimum), and the third time was after the latest system update).
