Stage 1 of The Community Edition Project is now open: Hardware Design. 📱

Designing the ultimate version of Phone (2a) starts with its hardware. What other stories could the back of the phone tell?

Visit nothing.tech to see the full brief for this stage. The brief will tell you everything you need to know to make a successful submission, and what our panel will be looking out for. Be sure to read this carefully before making an entry.

All submissions will be visible in the public gallery once they have been approved.

You can enter as many stages as you like, but submissions for each stage are limited to 1 per person. Please take your time when making your submission, as they cannot be edited afterwards.

Entries for the Hardware Design stage close on 16 April at 23:59pm.

Best of luck! Let us know if you submitted a design - we can’t wait to see your ideas. We’d also love to see your design process and some behind the scenes here on community! 🙏🏼

Hi I’m just wondering. Could I (eligible to enter) submit a deisng on behalf of someone that’s not eligible to enter, for example they are under 18. They put alot of work into it and have been involved with the community nearly since the very start of it. They have a few nothing products and are very proud of their design. It seems well thought out and looks pretty good. I also would like to say I feel making over 18 is slightly too old, it’s cuts alot of good talent out and it also seems random to me. There’s probably a good reason for it but you can get a job when you are 16 so to me it seems unreasonable. Thanks, Daydreamer.

Rob ⚡️ hello rob, i notice that i cannot make any adjustments to the physical geometry of Phone (2a).I’d like to ask if this means that just the overall size can’t be changed, or does it mean that the size of the camera’s positional light component isn’t allowed to be changed?

About the rule “You cannot make any adjustments to the physical geometry of Phone (2a).”,is it including circuit structure under the back?

While the brief on the initial page nothing.tech is only sparse, one gets the details there after clicking on “Learn more”, then “Get started”.

Couldn´t have been better concealed.. 🫤

@Rob ⚡️ Are we allowed to play with the:

    1. Camera Positioning
    2. Shape/pattern of the Circuit structure, NFC coil, etc.
    3. Shape and positioning of the Glyphs and the Red Blinker

LegitChaos5665 that’s part of geometry of the phone, think all we can change is (Back color, side rails, button color, ). Then the other stages

mehul No, this is primarily an exploration of the colours, materials and finishes of an existing product! We’re looking to create an ‘edition’ of (2a) not an entirely new product.
