I bought my buds during black friday, and today i had my first attempt at celaning the mesh, and they broke.
The left one was carefully cleaned of surface residue wax, then brushed the mesh with a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol, and it popped out. The glue around the rim felt like it sat more on the outside than the inside, but i didn´t think of it much at that point.
At that time i had a go at the right mesh, and just like the left one, again the black glue stuck to the cleaning wipe and basically snapped the mesh out with it.
So at this point i´m not sure what to do really. I see there is a silicone mesh inside the exchangable buds itself, and i am wondering if that is enough to keep them going from here on out?
In regards to an alternative to magnets for replacement meshes, perhaps a secondary mesh layer in the silicone itself of the bud could work? There is one layer already in there, so could it be added with another layer on top of the first one, and it is slightly off alligned to the first one to provide enough “ mesh ” to keep the buds clean and still have clear sound?
Or how about if the mesh came on something like a snap on ring? Think of it as a sort of gasket in the same material as the buds itself, and it has the mesh inside it. When you need to clean it, you use your fingernail to carefully snap it out and away from the bud itself. Then, you rinse it under warm water and soap and let it dry. Then you place it on the bud and click it back into it´s fitted slot. The mesh would be slotted inside the little detachable ring, and when you slot it in place, it has a small inner ring that keeps the mesh from falling out.
Then you could buy packs of replacement meshes, even in different colours if you wish to style it a bit. You are not in risk of damaging the mesh while trying to clean it and also not get moisture into the bud itself, since you clean it when it´s snapped off.
