CMF Phone 1 - India SIM Only

Just got the cmf phone 1 with the intention of using / reviewing it on a trip to Thailand only to read 'India sim only' on the box (I'm in India fyi). 2 qs: 1. Is an indian sim required for all operation or just (as I read elsewhere) for setup? So can i stick any local Indian sim in and turn it on then later put in a different (eg thai) sim and it will still work? 2. What does it need from the Indian sim? ie does it need to be *my* Indian sim (which I don't have cuz i use esim) or can i just use a friend's for a minute? Any help appreciated before i open the box 🙏

Derren Hello Darren. I have the same problem. I’m a foreign student in India. I’ve bought it for my sibling as a gift and wanted her to do the unboxing herself. After unboxing and turning it on we faced the exact problem. I’ve submitted the ticket as instructed. Wanted to share my experience. Will update this post later for the result.

mobinbiju-7 - You can login to the Nothing Support(https://nothing.tech/pages/contact-support) and raise a issue providing all the details, they will ask you for IMEI number to unlock the network. Once you provide they will reply back after unlocking. I have done this while in UK. (Sep 2024) SCINDIA

I am going abroad,i have set up my phone with indian sim.can i use the other region sim in abroad?

AmaanPasha Yes you can. Just be careful not to factory reset though.
I’m still stuck and waiting for the support response. I’ve bought roaming package (which was quite expensive) for my Indian sim card but to no avail. I wish it was more transparent.

ManeshSandeepa_JL4m0bvh6T As far as I know it’ll need to be connected to a valid Indian network, not roaming. But I don’t have personal experience with it

Hi I purchased a CMF phone 1 in India and when I returned to Singapore I factory reset the Device and I’m unable to use as it says it can only use Indian sim how can I fix this problem help pls

I have a question. How to start the wifi in a sim locked phone? can you tell me the process?

hadizaman1616 As far as I know, you have to go into the home screen to turn on Wifi and in SIM Locked CMF Phone 1, you will not be able to go to the home screen without unlocking your SIM. You can submit a support ticket to CMF Team mentioning your EMIE No. and ask them to unlock your Phone for your country. That how I got mine unlocked. It took me only couple of days.
