After the update of os 1.5.6 battery is getting drained too fastly in phone 1,is there a way to rectify this issue or is it resolved in the os 2.0 update

I’ve noticed a substantial decline in battery performance on my Nothing Phone 1 following the most recent software update. The screen-on time has dropped to below 3.5 hours, and the device is now draining battery approximately 50% faster than it did prior to the update. This issue appears to have started immediately after the update, suggesting it could be related to a software bug or system-level inefficiency. I would like to understand whether this is a known issue or if the device’s battery health has naturally degraded within less than three years of usage?

Your fortunate enough to face this issue now. My Phone (1) battery backup took a big hit after OS 2.0 update. Been more than a year since getting only 3.5 hours of SOT from 100 to 20%.

Hi there,

I am Jatin, i have my Nothing Phone 1 since mar’23. It’s working fine but the battery and the heating problem irritates me a lot.

I got my battery fix, it’s not the hardware type fix but here is what i have found out.

Problems:

Battery drains faster.
My 1% lasts longer than the entire 2-10% margin.
Drains faster so phone heats more.

Solution:

Perform this during the day time most probably during the afternoon noon after 1pm)

Keep your battery under 20%.
Restart your device.
Plug into the charger and charge it upto 100%.
Keep it plugged in for 1hr atleast (after 100%)
After that unplug and you are done.

What is being done here is, that your battery is fully charged upto 100% first. Your device is going to utilise that 100% thing fully which i believe is just a numerical showcase 100% not the real 100%. If you wont charge it after 100% for some time your phone wont really charge it upto fully 100% of the battery capacity. Its just the numbers.

Things to take care :

You can perform the solution 2 -3 times in a month. Otherwise it can also damage your battery.
After the solution is done. Normally charge your phone upto 90 or 100%. Dont put it on charge over time after 100%.

shantkumarhallale nothing did it on purpose so no turning back for normal users but for techies custom roms and downgrade to older nos version are the available options

Rob ⚡️ I am using nothing 3a pro since 3 month , actually i was turn off my internet, clear background apps, off always on display, then i have noticed that 14% battery drain in 6-7 h , its is horrible battery drain…

Nothing phone 1 battery replacement cost.
Or if I replace the battery then the problem of quickly drain will be solved….

Hi, its a question how many charge cycle your battery gone through. Check that first and that if a number is higher than 700, consider maybe to change battery. Anywhere below that, its a likely software problem that cause drain of battery.

That good, my phone have 482 charge cycle and battery is still excellent. I charge it 20-80% .

NooName we have custom roms are always there one of my friend maintains pixel os for nothing phone 1 battery backup is freaking awesome like 10-12 hrs of screen on time

That really great, but i think to not consider custom roms before Nothing update schedule is over for Phone (1). We will still have 1 more year of updates, so there will be time to fix battery drain issue. We will see what is battery on new Nothing OS 3.2 on Phone (1).

Stefan i have used pixel os and one other rom on my phone 1 and it works like a charm

It has adaptive refresh rate , pixel exclusive features on pixel os , CTS with nav bar hidden , and many more essential customisation that nothing os lacks plus the battery backup is insane phone might last upto 2 days for normal user even on 5g
