USB ports, especially on smartphones, can get really dirty over time: Fine dust, grime and fibres can collect inside and literally form a physical barrier making it harder or even preventing from getting in a charging cable correctly.
If you are unsure how to do this, there are a number of how-to videos on Youtube. Just as @Sai 🇮🇳 mentioned, often a good cleaning is enough to solve the issue.
In my case, my NP2 is one and a half year old, I have never used the official charging cable, let alone an official Nothing / CMF charger and never faced any issues. For instance I have a small rocket blower usually used for camera equipment and use it on the ports of my devices every few weeks.
I also make sure the plugged in USB cable doesn’t bend to prevent any force on the port due to tight angles.
