Charger not included in the box - why?

How many of you hate Nothing for not adding charger in the Box…??? 💔 Users having hard time finding a perfect charger with a slow charging bugs in Nothing devices❗

This is actually common practice for most companies in the industry now and has been for years.

Usually the given reason for this is one of the following

Helps prevent waste
Most people already have one
Enables a company to reduce the cost of the device slightly or bundle a charger at a better price, giving the user the choice

A couple of these points were actually mentioned by Carl in a recent video.

There are plenty of 45W aftermarket chargers out there, for as little as £10. If you can afford the phone, you can afford a charger. Think you’re going to find you’re in the minority on this issue.

ShaikhMuhammad 🙋‍♂️, So if e-waste or the environment is such a big deal for them, why are they still making chargers under the CMF brand? You can even buy them when you try to check out with a Nothing device in your cart. Like, what’s the point of manufacturing them if that’s really their main concern?

If you think this decision is correct considering the environment, then you should never buy a separate charger. Just use the phone as long as it has a charge 🔋, and when the battery dies, buy a new one phone 📱. Because if you buy a charger, it will harm the environment.

Derren While providing an adapter helps reduce e-waste, including a cable just adds unnecessary waste. If companies are truly committed to environmental impact, they should omit the cable too.

Right now, it seems like many are simply using this as a way to cut costs rather than make a meaningful difference.

Derren Then Why didn't you add the charger on your first device ? Before that no one ever had a Nothing charger , and in the phones tips ,it is stated that Use original Charger & Cable . How can anyone use if they didn't already have one ?

Also , If you are really Concerned about environment , why not do a packaging like motorola , environmental friendly packaging . Ofcourse that'll make your packaging looks dull , so you dont consider environment there. Rebranding the same device with downgrades is also kinda generating waste . And another doubt is , What is the reason for including charger in CMF P2 pro ? Is it made of leaves and vegetables ?

@RomanCZ Well if you have plenty of chargers that doesn't mean , everyone do have them ….

This is from Nothing's offcial guidelines , it says approved or Nothing accesories for safety .

Do everyone already have approved chargers , what is approved, Approved by whom ?

If some day in future , you got your phone blasted during charging while using another charger and you raise a complaint, what do you think the response would be ? " You should have used Original accessories" …That's how it goes

Derren hi sir, you guys might not providing the charger just to make some more money in the name of "it's a normal practice of some mobile manufacturer in the industry" what matters to you if a buyer of nothing phone already have a charger. It's not compatible with the nothing phones. Then we have to buy a nothing charger specially for the device. That's why I bought a charger named CMF charger 45 w last year. Having serial# "SN: PH02042228005721". Proven fake. After observing overheating, slow charging/ pausing charging but phone status showing charging even after unplugged the charger. It's not your choice to remove charger because industry pattern. It's your responsibility to provide. By the way you use the plastic for manufacturing most of the devices. Display low quality (proven in 2a). Then whats your mean to talk about wastage. We users adore the nothing tech. Don't ever lose that affection.

SubrahmanyaHegde cut costs for the company also cut costs for the end buyer. If you want an adapter you just include it as a soft bundle when you buy the phone. Cables are already in the package just because they are easy to lose and damage.

Well, in essence both assumptions are or could be correct.

Personally, I think it is unnecessary to include chargers in the Box as most of us already own one.

You can call it copout, but think about how much cost it actually cuts, versus the negative effects for the environment it causes when you throw it away.

Trash accumulates over time and it needs to be disposed, which often includes transport that causus emissions.

I think it's the right choice to not include them.

softouch6 First and foremost, I’ve 100W, 65W, 25W charger with myself, but Nothing’s slow charging issue sucks with almost every chargers. It takes almost 2.30 to 3hrs for some users! It’s not who can afford and who cannot, it’s about how users like you are fooled saying preventing e-waste whilst selling seperately with a seperate package which is also a Waste! It’s purely a Business Upsell not any other global cause❗#Wakeup

That's an utter nonsense to me and it's evr more nonsensical that some consumers dare to defend those strategies that are purely based on greed because a leading company that we won't quote started it and got away with it.

@romansharmagold No not "everybody has plenty of chargers", especially when you don't change your phone that often and when new phones constantly require new chargers to benefit from the fastest possible charging. Smaller boxes cutting fraction of cents in shipping (which is already dirt cheap) lower prices for them, not for you.

Acting like it didn't become the norm (because of people accepting and justifying that like some people on this thread) … but hey you can buy a cheap unofficial knock off charger from ebay so that's ok. A tip : You can buy your $17 charger from Chinese stores for half the price.

For now only few companies add chargers to the box and i think in the near couple of years nobody will add charger to the box.

Some companies do not bundle chargers for reducing e-waste. However, when a consumer ends up buying the charger, the charger comes in a separate box (of e-com companies) and its branded box. Doesn’t this additional packing increase waste, if not disposed off responsibly ? Had the charger been provided along with the phone, then this extra purchase could have been avoided. Actually, what should be addressed is “Responsible disposal of e-waste and packing materials waste”. Maybe the companies can (as a part of CSR initiatives) build centres to dispose these materials and in return the customer can be provided a discount coupon as an incentive ? Maybe a draw of lots ? What say ? Humans are motivated to do certain things through Incentivization.

ShaikhMuhammad I have charged my phone using various chargers including from car cigarette lighters, and it has never taken 2 ½ hours. Also I bought a Nothing charger for £17 from eBay, so we’re not talking huge amounts of cash. Another point is, in the case of my phone (2), it was heavily discounted not long after launch, so even buying a separate charger still didn’t reach the original price of the phone. Finally, a quick online search would have told you the phone didn’t come with a charger. Not happy with that ? Don’t buy it ! Oh, and my post said nothing about E-Waste.

ShaikhMuhammad this is pure business, and its what everyone is following, you gotta make money too. its sad but reality. apple gives 5+ years updates, pixel 7 I guess, samsung now 4 or 5 too. we are getting huge updates. low end phones only get 1 or max 2 coz of hardware which seems valid to me. even samsungs mid range phones gives long updates. things are diff now with updates.
