Why I don't like Nothing OS

When I use OneUI, I feel the huge cost of man-hours to make it convenient and useful. You can even move the context menu around the screen. Everything is quite cool and customizable. But when I look at NothingOs, it feels like they’re trying to sell us pure Android under the guise of something aesthetically pleasing, just by making black and white icons. This is not rocket science. I don’t feel like Nothing really invests a lot of resources in software. I don’t see the useful things that other smartphones have. And I still want the Nothing team to be aware of this and be more honest with its users. I don’t want the Nothing phone to feel like a toy due to the lack of all useful things, as well as a useless and backward iPhone. And besides, due to the almost pure Android, Nothing OS does not have its own identity. The system feels like a slight modification of what Google has come up with. Then what is the merit of Nothing, I don’t fully understand as a consumer

Skywalker_G65DQvRLQj Nothing is a new company. They cant do all the features in few years what Samsung has done in 10 years. Samsung has a huge team and Nothing is smaller.

Disagree. It don’t need it’s own identity like you’re talking about. Look at OnePlus, it used pretty much stock Android and then went on with ColorOS to have it’s own identity? How’s OnePlus doing now compared to it’s early days? When Carl Pei said want to start Nothing, it was about to get back to his OnePlus original direction.

Nothing is new company, as even the reply above me said also. Do you know, despite being new company, their mid range phone 2a (nfc) and CMF Phone 1 (no nfc) sold well. So they are in the right direction. Improvements needed, not change of direction.

Xiaomi went global only with their Mi3, and that also I think less available country than Phone 1. Xiaomi’s Mi4 also didn’t get released in some countries that got limited release of Mi3.

This is the point of nothing os to be simple os like google pixel with changed design style and own widgets.

While i see what you are concerned about i cant agree.
NOS runs flawless since its launch. The goal of Nothing is “to make tech fun again” and to let people spent less time on the phone. Thats what it does. I dont think about customization because it simply works. If i need a lot of custom things i install a custom rom.

Nothing does not need to be for everyone but many people love the Nothing Products including me. I like the direction they are heading and im happy to be a part of it.

NOTHING is OK.

I like the CMF Phone 1 at its pricepoint (169 GBP).

The NP1, 2, 2a, 2a plus are far too expensive for their quality

I just picked up a OnePlus 12 for 649 GBP with a 100W charger included. That’s much better value for money.

I do find that NOTHING has lost their way in the mid-range prucepoints (300-500 GBP) as the camera quality is meh, whereas the OP12 is very good value at 650.

The CheapMoFo1 is stellar at 169 even though the camera is really only suitable for online usage rather than printing or videography.

I used the Np(2) since release and bought a OnePlus 12 .
A month later i was about to sell the Np(2) but the day i was going to offer it online i had to use it again to go back to stock etc.
I sold the OP12 2 days later and i am still using the NP(2).

Im not a camera guy so maybe thats a big point and i cant really nail down why but i prefer the older Np(2) over the OP12.
Software and feel and overall daily usage somehow feels a lot better on the NP(2).

wtf984 yeah, it’s a camera phone and I’m a big user with two 5 and under children.

It’s the best phone camera wise that I’ve seen below 800GBP.

The phone my children finally broke was a Xiaomi 10 Lite Zoom (Youth edition) with a 5x periscope that was very useful for videos (320 GBP) in 2020.

I really like NOTHING’s aesthetics but the cameras are crippling.

I expect nothing for 169GBP but the CMF1 is great and I replace the rear cover when my children break it.

This is exactly what many of us wanted: stock Android and a relatively affordable phone. These features were what propelled OnePlus to the top, but over time, it seems to have strayed from its original vision. Hopefully Nothing doesn’t lose its way entirely.

I had a 1+1 on the original invite system in 2012/13 and it was a “flagship killer”. I like the CheapMoFo1 as the performance is stellar as is battery life for a busy professional. 99.999999% of my photos simply go into WhatsApp and Facebook to family members, so it gets the job done to a decent standard.

I’ve got the open beta 3 on phone 2 and everything seemed good before, better now, in my view.
