Essential space for older Nothing Phones?

Will the Essential Space and Essential Key features from the Nothing Phone (3a) come to the Nothing Phone (2a) and (2)?

Hi all, I bought phone 2a almost an year ago and apart from small bugs here and there I’m enjoying the experience. Most probably I’m not gonna stick to my 2a for 2 more years as long as 2a is officially supported.

Very recently in phone 3a series I noticed this essential space feature and there is a separate button for it.

Then came to my mind why not bring that feature for phone 2a series as well and using it by either double press power button or implement it in the screenshot gesture itself?

Official statement is: There is no dedicated key and the UI/UX is designed for the key.

Clearly only an excuse but I understand it. Why should they invest time in developing it for older devices and lose an sell point of the newer devices? Furthermore they need to power these AI requests which also cost a bit.

So sadly no. It won’t come

No need any key for that, they are just giving fake reasons, main reason is They have only this feature to sell phone 3 series, else other features are easily available in mid range phones

Yes, you can install it via the app sideload and use tasker to emulate the button press INPUT KEYEVENT 190-206. I can’t remember exactly which keycode it was but I do remember it was between those ranges.

Would love if you could share a guide on how to access essential space on NP 1 and 2

TheDocHudson that are some Reddit threads with use of ADB and some keymappers with Tasker and Automation to enable this. Look on the two Reddit fora right any the 3a was released, side load the APK and go for it 🙂
