While the default and expert photo mode allow for a whole range of control, the video mode is mood killer. It doesn’t provide any control! Having a pro in the name but not providing basic stabilization on/off switch or exposure settings is idiotic I guess!

When I hold down and record I can access full 60x zoom capability of the sensor. But when I press the record button from video option I can only zoom upto 8x and in inferior quality

I have found one black spot in my camera photos, when I started camera at 1 x,

When I switch to 0.6 or 2 x it is vanished. I don’t know how to correct it, or what to do it is new phone & not completed 25 days.

Request to suggest any solution.

My impression of the cameras so far:

The main camera is really good, in principle. But the images are way too overprocessed and oversharpened and way too bright! Vegetation looks quite terrible. I would like an option to reduce sharpening! When I process raw files of the main camera you can see that there is definitely enough sharpness from the lens already. Even vegetation looks great and much more realistic in the raw files when you reduce the sharpening.

The tele camera is phantastic! The processing here is much better than on the main camera. It also takes great macro shots. A real winner! Very clean and undistorted raw files!

The wide angle camera is total crap! Blurry images and WAY too overprocessed and sharpened. There are thick white outlines on every dark object and there are lots of processing artefacts, even in bright sunlight. I hate to look at these images. The raw files show how noisy the sensor is. They are unfortunatly quite unusable because of the horrible distortion. Really a shame, given that the other cameras are so great!

Apart from the Hardware, I really appreciate that we can upload LUTS (.cube files) and create presets! This is a game changer!

Overall, I have mixed feelings about these cameras — it’s 50/50 for me.

Telephoto lens:

This is a fairly decent camera and probably the only one that seems properly tuned. The image processing felt good to me overall. The only issue is occasional focus loss, which definitely needs to be fixed and adjusted to ensure smooth and accurate operation.

Main camera:

This is the only camera that noticeably differs in color reproduction. While the telephoto and ultra-wide are somewhat consistent in terms of color, the main one delivers noticeably different tones. I also dislike the stabilization — bright areas like streetlights get all smudged when moving. There are frequent overexposures and focus issues. I constantly have to tap on the screen to adjust focus manually. The processing on this camera is overly soft and smudged — there’s too much noise reduction. I’d rather have a slightly noisy but detailed image than a clean yet mushy one. The trick of aggressively removing noise and then artificially sharpening the image just doesn’t work — it looks bad and shouldn’t be used.

Ultra-wide lens:

Stabilization is just as bad as on the main camera — again, bright areas like lights get smudged and jittery when moving. The noise reduction here is terrible. Please either reduce it or remove it completely — a photo with noise and details is far better than a blurry, overprocessed one.

In future updates, I would love to see improvements in the following areas:

1. Autofocus: It’s unreliable and needs serious work.

2. Overexposure: Often I have to manually tap on bright areas to stabilize the image — this should be handled automatically.

3. Image processing: Please don’t just slap on aggressive noise reduction and then add artificial sharpness. Find a better balance between clarity, detail, and natural noise levels.

4. Color consistency: The cameras currently produce noticeably different colors. This should be corrected so all lenses output consistent color tones.

5. Zoom and lens switching: These need to be much smoother. Right now, the experience is laggy and jerky — zooming in and out should feel seamless.

6. Zoom controls: They’re not very intuitive or user-friendly — and on top of that, they’re laggy and inconsistent. This whole part of the experience needs improvement.

And one more thing to add at the end:

I’d really love to see smoother video recording from these cameras. Right now, even though it’s technically 30 FPS, it feels choppy and stuttery at times. It might help to implement something like a subtle motion blur, similar to what’s used in video games — just enough to make motion feel more natural. Combined with smoother zoom and camera switching, this could really enhance the overall experience and make it feel truly fluid.

Phone is over all best and no phone is perfect every phone have its cons. I think nothing phone 3a should have gorilla glass. panda glass gives it cheap vibe.

3a pro camera color accuracy needs to be improved colors seems too brighter doesn’t give that much contrasting image during day time. if colors are little bit contrasting it would be good.

If camera colors can be improved by software update i would really appreciate it as a customer.

I’ve come on a trip, and I’m using my 3a Pro’s camera for clicking pics everywhere.

Even until an hour ago, the camera was working great. But now there seems to be a significant delay (2-3 seconds delay) between when I click a pic and when the pic actually gets captured.

Debugging:

  • In my old phone, this used to happen when the storage was low. But in this phone I’ve used less than 70GB of the 256GB total.
  • Video seems to be good. Able to take videos without any delay
  • Doesn’t seem to be lens-specific. There’s the same amount of delay irrespective of the zoom: 1x, 2x or 3x

One thing I did not test is: maybe the phone itself got hot with how much I’ve used? But it’s unlikely since the temperature right now is -3°C where I am. So the phone is not hot outside, so maybe the chip is hot inside?

Another odd thing I noticed is… when it works normally, the processing is applied after 3-4 seconds, right? But now, the pic is captured 2-3 seconds later, and the processing is applied almost immediately (less than 1-2 seconds).

Could anybody help me here, please? Thanks in advance!

Update: Guys, I hit the flash on by mistake 🤦 Hence the delay.

There is definitely some processing for the moon photos. But they are still really good !

Merged 1 post from I am loving the camera on Nothing 3a pro.

I don’t mind when defolt 50mp and if file size is heavy.

Let’s fix this issue. Otherwise give a option to set default.

I’m really impressed with the cameras here — both the main lens and the 3x zoom produce crisp, clear images, but only when the subject is still. When capturing moving subjects, the photo often turns out blurred, or the final image after post-processing isn’t the one I actually intended to capture. For example, in the photo above, there was no rickshaw at the moment I pressed the shutter, but the processed image seems to have been taken a second later, capturing something that wasn’t originally there. I hope this issue gets fixed — the processing should be applied to the exact moment the photo was taken, not a delayed frame. Aside from that, I absolutely love the phone and the software!
