Remapping Essential Key

So, I’ve been on the verge of purchasing the Phone 3A pro for a little while now. Everything about it looks great, and I don’t really need flagship level power for most of what I do. however, this essential space stuff is really annoying. Can Nothing stop playing games with their existing and potential customers, and add the remapping functionality already? I won’t purchase the phone until this happens, why the hell would I want a device with an accidental click button that links to a service with limited processing/subscription? Not to mention, why go through all this effort to design a highly customisable OS if you can’t remap the one quick assess button on the device? Most of this nonsense over essential space could’ve been avoided if Nothing had made remapping available from the start.

When you are pressing the essential key, just press on the screenshot to deselect it. Next time it won’t load in your screenshot folder because it won’t be saved

New Nothing phone 3A Pro user, this phone is nearly perfect. I reall like it and it is almost the best phone I have ever owned. Until I get to the Essential Key. This detracts from the rest of the phone! And is my biggest complaint with this phone a wasted key! Please fix with a means to remap the Essential Key!

I kind of don’t like the idea of forcing user to use Essential key for essential space ( Note taking) etc. Why don’t they make it optional and make me use it for other apps and functions.

I’ve just bought cmf 2 pro and there is a button that I don’t know how to utilize it whatsoever.

I’m having the phone as a secondary phone to my iphone but I’m starting to love it so much.

So please help me to learn about it or how to adjust it to something else.

Mine randomly stopped working so that’s good.. hopefully reset doesn’t fix that.

Nothing CEO will not listen to you or the community, so don’t bother. He is completely useless.

I have good news! There’s an option to easily reprogram the essential button. Now, in the system settings, in the essensial AI tab, I see an option to activate essential space only the second time the button is pressed. This allows you to map a button in the Button Mapper! This solves my needs! 🔦

siwym1995 Thanks. The update must have rolled out yesterday or tonight (UTC+1) for the 3a pro so I didn’t have the option. It appeared after updating.

Adam What do you mean, essential space needs a subscription? No it doesn’t. Also, I think that one tiny button is a minor issue, not a reason not to buy a phone. If you wait, the 3a Pro would probably be out of date by then.

II have a Nothing Phone 3. I hope older phones will also get this feature in the latest update.

Adam they just added an update for this , enabling it so that doesn’t work on lock screen - accidental presses and pressing it once and again within 2 seconds to enable essential key , the remapping part , well we have third party apps for that but yes we would like the remapping like one plus 13 has. I myself got a 3a pro over 13r because 13r is metal and would heat up on heavy usage while gaming and well 3a pro has a periscope, a damn good one at that. No bloat except lock glimpse and meta services . Its smooth and overall if you want a stock android still but budget , nothing wins because it has less features but then again, we dont want too many ai features anyway
