Why did many people dislike the design of the Nothing Phone 3?

I've seen that many people didn't like the design of the Nothing Phone 3, but it's a masterpiece of industrial design, everything fits together and has a retro aesthetic. Without a doubt, I will buy it when it arrives in my region, I currently have the Nothing Phone 3a Pro, I will be bringing you the review of the Nothing Phone 3, and you, why don't you think the design is pretty? It’s overpriced…. In India nobody is going to buy this phone at 80k.. people will buy Samsung or apple in this budget…only diehard fan of nothing will buy this phone at this price

Joseph_Developer okay phone 3 is for those who have money. Then let’s compare the same spec with other company offering. Why USB 2.0 when other devices are using 3.0 in thier mid range phones. What about the ufs version?. Heard that nothing removed transparent charging cable? What about display LTPS insted of LPTO? All these cost cutting It’s about money only.if the company is worried about money we will be also

Joseph_Developer everything is good except for price tag, and the glyph matrix placement and alignment, I’m not sure. It’s like a love or hate affair.

Nothing team will learn now, how design matters in this phone segment. Not seen much improvement in the camera. Others are on a top working on camera improvements.

We are hoping for the best in Nothing- 4 called to be “KNOCK ON WOOD”.

From what I can tell, this design due to its asymmetry is so controversial that it will become famous and its chances of selling will increase. Not to forget the recurring discounts on e-commerce websites will always be there.

Joseph_Developer I also adore industrial minimalism that’s why we are here, right? But if you look at this phone you see something is missing, the whole lower back looks really empty and the camera plus glyph just looks way too messy and the whole design looks like what an bad ai would have done. If you compare this design with phone one you see what I mean, more sophisticated but raw industrial design, this is just confusing

100hzpanic look closer you’ll see the gradient squares down the one side. Think in person it’ll have more depth. Also has wireless charging limiting what all manufacturers can do on the back.

I really like it, super futuristic industrial. If there was a phone in Mickey 17 or in space this would be it.

My wife approves says it looks cool, likes the headphones too. She’s tempted to buy the phone.

Well, seems like it’s time to go back to Samsung and wait till Nothing gets back on track and stops with this crap…

Everyone wanted the glyph and look at this abomination 🤦🏻‍♂️

They knew exactly what the community wanted, everyone that switched to Nothing did it in great part for the glyph (and I mean the phone 1 and 2 glyph, not that irrelevant one of the 3a).

There were plenty of fan made designs and they were all similar one another cause that’s what the design should have resembled, not this horrendous crap.

I waited 2 years and unfortunately it seems I’ll have to wait another 2 to see if the phone 4 will be what we expected from them…

I like the alignment and slight imbalance of this phone.

For example, while each element is nicely aligned to the grid, the periscope looks a bit unbalanced. The concept of the periscope paired with the microphone next to it is interesting, as it creates a frame for the phone while also somewhat counteracting the imbalance.

However, if the frame around the microphone area next to the periscope had a slightly more striking color (or had more of a glare), this intention could have been highlighted more.

I personally like the design. When the (2a) came out, I didn’t like it and in the end it is one of my favorite designs.

I know that bad publicity is publicity at the end of the day, that they talk about you is important. But they can talk about you by presenting an industrial and beautiful design, differentiating, modern, BUT BEAUTIFUL. If they talk about you because half the internet is mocking your design and above all, your price… I think it’s not good.

Joseph_Developer yeah some people are bound to like it. You are on that radar, good for you mate.

Design aside what do you think about the functionality aspect and price point? Look nothing always targets tech nerds first rather than mass market, and nerds always look at the specs chart and there it doesn’t match the price. The only thing wrong with the device is the Price. The only way it can go right is if at the start of sale they announce "all of this was a joke the new price will be 499/549″or so.

you can’t make everyone happy. I just feel that most people are dismissive in nature when it comes to tech.

YT-bers called the Glyphs a gimmick, now with Glyph Matrix, the same YT-bers are like “it was so iconic and different why was it removed?” For real wth…

I LOVE the design of the (3) so cool and so catchy.

Once it arrives to Middle East, I’ll definitely consider it. (my 13 mini is dying fast haha) 💀

because its ugly? being different is okay but it doesn’t mean it will appeal to wider users. symmetry plays an important role in product design and this phone lacks its. the stupid matrix is bigger gimmick than glyph light.

and the price at which it comes is bigger joke than this device. Is Nothing trying to destroy own brand or what? or they gonna go with stupid reasoning “courage” like some other said brand we all know. I was really considering this brand for my next device but looks like they are turning into a joke of a brand.

“Symmetry is the aesthetics of fools.” - just sayin. Sometimes symmetry is important sometines not. Design is creative process, don’t close your mind in some rules. Whether a given design is liked or not is a matter of personal taste.

I am not forcing you or anyone, you are free to be loyal to a brand and like whatever in the name of “creativity” and but don’t expect everyone to do so. I am gonna pass on this one.
