Nothing phone 3 cost, UK v USA

Is it me? Looking at costs for the Nothing phone 3 and seeing UK Prices and USA prices.

Uk price for The 12 GB + 256 GB Nothing Phone (3) will cost you £799, and the 16 GB + 512 GB Nothing Phone (3) will set you back £899.

USA Price for the 12 Gb + 256 Nothing phone (3) will cost you $799 and the 16GB + 512 GB Nothing phone (3) Will set you back $899$

Hear me out? With the conversion rate @ £1 = $1.37.

This makes the USA phone of $799 = £581$ $899 = £659,

or is my Maths not correct?

U have to be happy In India the phone starts at

$935 for 256gb

And

$1052 for 512gb

It could be due to taxes in each country or the company’s sales strategy.

For Pixel 9, iPhone 16 and Galaxy S25, the US and UK price numbers are pretty similar (prices before promo)

I live in the UK and whenever I fly over to the US, I always bring new electronics back.

Recently bought the lowest-spec M3 MBA for $749 at BestBuy which is around half the price that I could find in the UK. I usually fly in/out of Logan (Boston) and buy stuff in New Hampshire with no sales tax.

You also have to remember that all of Europe has a VAT/MOMS/MwSt of between 19 and 25% added to the price. Thus, £581 × 1.2 (+20 VAT) = £700 or a small savings over the UK price (£100).

When currencies adjust this happen (my last MBP was bought in Japan and it was around 40% less than the GER price … in 2013 Japan was having some economic issues … I did however have a Japanese keyboard for 9 years though … along with UK-English/UK-English/Swedish and German keyboards in the stable).

Spare a thought for those of us down under - the Phone (3) starts at $AU 1509 for the 12/256 GB version and is $AU 1689 for the 16/512 GB version (and that’s including our 10% GST/VAT)

I guess this is what happens when our exchange rates suck.

In USA you still need to add the tax to the price, so for a $899 phone you need to pay around $899-$1000 (depending on the state)

That said, it’s still less than in the UK - and what are you going to do about it? :^)

Australia is getting shafted.

12+256 = 1509 AUD (Australian dollars) = $992 USD = 727 GBP = 84,843 IR

16+512 = 1689 AUD = $1110 USD = 814 GBP = 94963 IR

These Australian prices include a 10% GST sales tax. If you reduce both prices by 10% and make them tax free.. convert and then add local taxes, that’s probably the best comparison. But I don’t know the import/sales taxes for USA, UK or India.

Luckily on release, one of the major resellers is (sort of) helping by providing a $200AUD gift card. It isn’t cash, but it is something. You can also get gift vouchers sometimes 5% cheaper, and pay with those. That is what I did. It helps.

kieran_short Check out Optus as well, they are offering free headphones (1) if you’re interested in a 12-36 month plan. I just bought the 3A from JBHIFI instead, I couldn’t justify the Phone (3) price honestly.
