MTP not working with Nothing Phone - Help

Hi r/NothingTech and Android community,I’m facing a frustrating issue with MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) on my PC, and I could use some help! I have a Nothing Phone 2, but the problem also occurs with other Android devices. Here’s the situation:Setup: My PC has a fresh Windows install (not sure if it’s N/KN edition, but likely standard Windows 11). Another PC with an upgraded Windows 10 install works perfectly with MTP for my Nothing Phone 2.Issue: When I connect my Nothing Phone 2 (or other Android devices) to my fresh-install PC, MTP doesn’t work. The devices either don’t show up in File Explorer or appear with errors in Device Manager (e.g., “MTP USB Device” with a yellow exclamation mark). I’ve tried multiple USB cables and ports, and MTP is enabled on the phone (Settings > Connected Devices > USB Preferences > File Transfer).What I’ve Tried:Updated Windows to the latest version.Uninstalled/reinstalled MTP drivers in Device Manager.Manually installed wpdmtp.inf from C:\Windows\INF.Enabled USB Debugging on the phone.Checked for Media Feature Pack (not sure if it’s installed).No luck with third-party driver tools yet.Observations: The upgraded Windows 10 PC connects fine, so I suspect my fresh install is missing drivers or components (maybe Media Feature Pack?). Me too I’m getting same error with phone 2A plus it’s critical bug really frustrating i have to backup my data from phone but this is what I strucked with this same problem.

Same issue on phone 3 with 2 different PC(win10 and 11) and multiple cables, even ADB don’t work

Mikl_sBalogh_ Did you transfer your previous Nothing phone data to your new Nothing phone(s) during set up? I’m working on a theory that our problem is related to that. I’ll be attempting a factory reset in a couple of days.

*update Did a full factory reset, set up phone without restoring settings, and still won’t connect, tried every usb port on my pc and somehow it works on the rear top 2 usb 3.0 ports like it should on all others

Mikl_sBalogh_ Thanks for that update. I’ll try some more USB ports on my PC.

I found a working USB 3.2 port! It’s a type A port so I have to use an old type C to A cable from a tablet charger. Crazy. My other type C port on the back of the PC also did not work. Windows 11 and ADB now recognises the device. Thanks for trying the factory reset.
