Whether you’re a tinkerer, or you have a particular sound signature that you prefer, or maybe you just want to try something new and explore other people’s preferences, this is a great time to get involved.

I built TrueStage to give each track more dimensionality and air, while still keeping the mix cohesive. I started by gently boosting the sub-bass—not to turn it into a bass-heavy profile, but to provide just enough low-end grounding to give the stage a proper floor. Then I rebalanced the mids, slightly taming the upper midrange to prevent vocal shout, especially when listening at higher volumes.

I wanted to share the DMS equaliser, the one featured on Short Circuit in collaboration with LTT Labs. This EQ is said to make the curve more flat.

I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now and one of the biggest differences I’ve noticed is that the high frequencies, 5k and beyond, are reduced, resulting in a much less sharp and tinny sound. I found this to be a problem with the stock EQ.

Firstly it’s worth noting that most custom EQs reduce the overall volume when applied. Apart from that the DMS EQ provides very well balanced sound across all the frequencies, but by making the sound more flat there’s no real standout characteristic, like how Beats are known for their strong bass.

One thing I do like about the DMS EQ is the high frequencies, 5k and beyond, they’re much less sharp and tinny than on the stock EQ.

Derren Ah that makes sense. I love the highs in the DMS one too. I agree nothing stands out. I find the default one too bass heavy, I listen to orchestral mixes and want a hollistic sound. I think that’s why I started trying to get to flat more

@bhanuchandra_95 Thanks so much for checking it out…. I agree.. it was taking out too much from bass I felt. I tried to bring it back a little in the new one…. Is that making a difference? Also, I keep bass enhancement at 4. Does that even work when advanced eq is being used?

I currently use the custom EQ created by SoundGuys. I find it offers a good balance for my listening preferences. EQ taken from SoundGuys review of Headphone (1) under Reviewer’s notes section.

Ok, clear. I’ve found the option via the 3 vertical point on the top right.
Wihy the spatial sound can’t use the advanced eq ?

EricLEGER My assumption would be that these two options are processing the audio in different ways to achieve their respective results and likely conflicts. You almost certainly wouldn’t get your desired output.
