Roleplay | Product Narrative | By me
This is a creative roleplay where I imagine the Nothing Phone (2) telling its own story from being designed in London and assembled in India, to its first unboxing, daily life with its user, and even its quiet fears of being replaced. It’s a fun, emotional take on what it means to be more than just a piece of tech.
Hello! I’m Nothing Phone 2, but I’m not just any smartphone. I’m different, special even, with my unique glyph lights that glow on my back, setting me apart from the rest.
My life began in London, the home of my ancestors, though I was assembled in India. I’m proud of my sleek design, something that my creators spent a lot of time perfecting. Compared to my sibling Phone (1), I’m a definite upgrade. I’m much more ergonomic (Let’s not talk about the new guys in town..). I also have cousins, like Ear and Ear (a). A not-so-distant family line called CMF. But we’re all part of the same big family.
When I was all ready, I was packaged in an eco-friendly box. They kept things as sustainable as possible. Most of my kind reach our users through Flipkart, meeting them for the first time during those unboxing rituals. Aah, the thrill of being peeled open for the first time!
I might not be cheap, but I bring value:
📷 A 50 MP dual camera setup (Not quite an iPhone Ultra, but I hold my own),
⚡ 12 GB RAM, 256 GB storage,
🔋 4700 mAh battery,
📱 A clean Android experience (Not much of a brag but I run on the latest Android version I think).

My purpose? To make my user’s decisions intentional and bring a bit of fun back to the tech world.
In my daily life, I strive to keep my user on track. Whether it’s waking them up, delivering notifications, or entertaining them with music and videos, I do it all. My battery is pretty reliable, though sometimes I wake up 10% (We were up all night..). When I’m not needed, my user just flips me over, and I go into nap mode, lighting up my glyph lights in cool patterns.
Speaking of my glyph lights, they’re not just for show. I use them to signal notifications, alarms, and messages, even when I’m taking naps. It’s a simple way to keep my user in the loop without disturbing them or me. I even use my lights to show how much time is left for Uber, Zomato orders, and how much battery is charged. My user doesn’t even need to look at the screen for that! I can also let others know when I record videos using a red light on my back. But, honestly, as much as I love showing off my lights, my user doesn’t use them as much as they used to. For the first few months, they played around with all my features, but over time, they started using me like any other phone. It stings a little, but I understand.
Despite all my cool features, I can’t help but worry. New models with better design come out all the time, and I fear being replaced. And then, there’s the ever-present threat of cracks or scratches since I’m wrapped in glass on both sides. Although it’s Gorilla Glass, that doesn’t stop the anxiety from creeping in.
In the end, I’m proud of what I do. When my user depends on me, it feels good. Sure, there are moments of insecurity.. low battery, occasional slowdowns. But I’m always trying my best to be the perfect sidekick.
After all, I’m not just a phone.
I’m Nothing Phone 2.
