TL;DR
tried on NP2a, may works on other devices; Try resetting the device, don’t transfer data from older device to new while setting up the device, don’t download all the apps at once, after this leave the device plugged in for charging (do this when you don’t require your phone for a long time; at night?) i.e. for extra 5-6 hours after the device reached 100%, don’t use the phone while this whole time. Hope your problem will be fixed!
Details here: I have seen many, including myself who are facing high battery drain issue here is a post I made.
After reporting the problem several time and finding no solution, I tried a tip/suggestion I got from the support. see, I was not facing this issue from starting, it only started recently.
The tip was, most of us might have read
The device may experience temporary overheating and increased power consumption during the upgrade and will quickly return to normal after the upgrade is complete.
this actually happens.
For bigger update and after factory reset the device need to do several optimization so it requires time and power.
So it is suggested to leave the device idle for 5-6 hours plugges in to charger even after the battery is charged (nothing support told this).
Follow from here: I suggest you guys to make the local backup of your data, whichever is possible, and perform factory reset.
while setting up, do as the setup guides but don’t transfer the data from old device to new one, do the data transfer manually afterwards.
when the device is setup properly don’t instantly download all the app, only necessasy.
after the device is setup, plug in the charger and leave the device, even after the battery is full, leave it extra for 5-6 hours, try not to use the device while this period.
Now you may not feel the excessive battery drain or heating (I hope so) . and after this you can get your data and apps back.
p.s : I have tried this and the problem was gone, I cannot assure it will solve your problem but if you are facing the issue and haven’t got it solved you can give this a try.
Thanks to Nothing support!
