Those are some genuinely useful features—especially the ability to share Flip-to-Record clips and export content from Essential Space. But honestly, it’s still not enough.
1. Selective Transcription Needs:
There are many scenarios where I don’t need AI to transcribe my recordings—dream journaling, for example. Sometimes I just want to quickly capture a thought or inspiration using a single tap. But currently, Essential Space counts every recording towards the 300-minute limit, even if transcription isn’t necessary. Lectures, meetings, daily notes—it adds up quickly. We really need an option to record without automatic transcription, or at least let us decide when transcription should be triggered. This applies to screenshots too—AI analysis should be optional, not forced.
2. Missing Basic Input Features:
While Essential Space allows us to share data with other apps, it still doesn’t support manually adding a photo or voice recording into the timeline. This feels like a basic feature that’s still missing. Let users add content, not just passively collect it.
3. Still No Scoped Storage / Permissions Control:
I’ve mentioned this before (via feedback and email) and was told it’s “in the pipeline,” but four months later… still no change. An app that captures screenshots and audio shouldn’t require full gallery access. Scoped storage exists for a reason. You can save screenshots to the gallery without needing permission to access the entire media library. And if you plan to introduce image import into Essential Space, at least support limited access (specific photos and videos only). That’s more than enough, and far more privacy-friendly.
I really hope these points are taken seriously. Essential Space is a great idea, but right now, it’s missing some much-needed control, flexibility, and respect for user privacy. Please look into this.
