I know. Maybe I was not clear.
I want to “Take a quick note for memory” (“Effortlessly record essentially details for later recall”). I expected to be able to do this simply by pressing the Essential Key, speak into the phone, and for the on-device speech-to-text feature to save a transcript. This would be fantastic for recording ideas and reminders whilst I’m in the middle of something.
However, Nothing’s developers have not ensured this is possible whilst the device is offline. I do not wish to have my private thoughts or ideas (sometimes business related or sensitive) to be shared with unnamed third parties, and there is no reason for this considering it’s the device that converts the speech to text and no further processing is required. When trying to leave a voice note whilst offline the app keeps whirling.
This basic but fundamental task of transcribing voice notes whilst offline cannot be performed only because Nothing has not yet enabled it. For me it makes the Essential Space app (which cannot be uninstalled) and the Essential Key redundant, which is frustrating because the ability to transcribe thoughts at the touch of a button was an exciting prospect.
