Unable to clear “Temporary system files” on Nothing Phone (2)

Hi everyone,

I’m using a Nothing Phone (2) on Nothing OS [insert your version here]. In my Settings > Storage, I see around 9.7 GB occupied by “Temporary system files.”

I’ve already:

Cleared app caches manually.

Used Files by Google → Clean → Junk files.

Restarted the device.

But the Temporary system files storage doesn’t reduce at all.

On older Android versions, this could be cleared with Wipe cache partition in recovery, but that option is missing in Nothing OS. As a result, I’m stuck with almost 10 GB of unusable space.

👉 Could you please confirm if there’s a way to manually clear these files or if the system auto-cleans them?

If it’s auto-cleaned, can we at least get an option in Storage settings to clear it manually?

StalinD_Cruz ram booster also counts as cache…

One is before ram booster enabled and second is after … you can turn it off…

Oh, I was interested and watched myself what that thing is. Was a bit confused if seeing myself this🫣

But this is what I’ve got as an explanation. So try clean cache of apps. As I know Telegram uses most of the space cause it saves many stuff, if you have this you can go to the app and clean the cache here, sometimes it really has a lot. Also if you use smth like Spotify it also will save music as a cache here. Try this way.

I also used SD maid earlier, I installed a pro version from 4pda (our local platform like xda), it also helps in cleaning a bit and was too helpful tool on my Galaxies.

Tbh I haven’t thought I already have 13 GB in these files, like when did I get this amount, I’m using my 3a just 2 months🫣 I went to clean this myself then

themountofmint if you are using the secured folder. Then it shows the storage of the app in the temporary system files.

Download “SD Maid 2/SE” - (by darken) and clean cache of all apps. But why though? It will just load it all back as you use those apps, they are made to cache as that’s how they work faster, also your system is faster as the CPU doesn’t have to work on caching every file over and over again. You also just wear down your storage unnecessarily by constantly cleaning it (just to get it all cached back).

themountofmint Yeah, unless you’re short on storage. Just clean cache for the top 5 largest apps once per month, so Instagram, Reddit and whatever else you use, and you are good, no need to worry about this as you just waste time over nothing. If you want to keep free storage just don’t install anything at all, but then what’s the point of having a phone at all, no? 😜

The thing is, imagine it this way as everyone is familiar how browsers work - you clean cache in your browser, when you get back to a website, say nothing.community, it will have to cache it all once again, so the CPU will work again to do the same work that it did many times so far after each time you cleaned that cache. Same principle with apps, no difference. A lot of people keep obsessively cleaning every app’s cache day in day out and those same people have constant issues with battery life in their phone - because the phone is every day doing the exact same work for each app - recaching - and it can’t get any rest 😁

When I watch some shorts on YouTube, and check the cache, it’s at almost 400 mb. Same goes with scrolling some photos in nothing community in chrome, almost 150 mb.

What do I do about this? Just leave it there? What advantage does that large cache create (isn’t it for the videos I already watched ?) .

My Nothing Phone 2 has/had a storage problem for months. The Temporary System Files keep increasing until they reach more than 30GB. I cannot find any files that use that much space. The only solution that works is to reset my phone, which brings it back to around 2GB. But after some time, the storage increases again and I end up resetting my phone once more.

I researched the issue and other users have the same problem. Some say Messenger or Telegram is causing the storage spike. If that is true, what am I supposed to do, stop using my messaging apps?

Abellare_JomarM_ no… just clean the cache or data… in telegram settings> data storage… check if any chat or media is unusually using high storage… delete them if you don’t need them ..

Turn off ram booster…it doesn’t help in day to day life…

Clean WhatsApp cache or remove unnecessary images , videos , documents…and make sure to remove them from ‘sent’ folder or video, image, document folder…

If this issue is still there… update here …👍🏻

JP I’ve cleaned the Data Storage, Clear Cache and even Uninstall Telegram itself and it doesn’t change the “Temporary System Files” now I’m replying it’s 27GB right now. I don’t have WhatsApp tho but I have messenger
