I live in the EU (Netherlands) so then I assume -EEA must be the intended version. However the issues could still be related to this specific release if the other users affected by it are also European?

P.S. I never paid attention to firmware updates before so I can only assume previous ones were also ending in “-EEA”.

From the Netherlands as well with a sim from Odido, got the update this morning and now my phone is also constantly reconnecting.

mythras Yes, it’s EEA for Netherlands and that’s perfectly fine. I was about to suggest some settings to you but one more user is facing this problem and he is also from Netherlands. So this might be an issue with this update if you have never faced this in the past and already tried basic settings. You can also contact your network provider (if it’s Odidio) once just to rule out any other possibilities.

Firmware (bot) Just want to add that I am having the same SIM issue as the other people who have been posting recently. I’m also in the Netherlands with a Phone (2).

SIM worked perfectly before the update, updated yesterday, now it keeps disconnecting and connecting after a few seconds. Battery drains extremely quick because of this.

I’ve restarted multiple times with and without SIM. Without SIM, my status keeps changing from “no service” to “only emergency calls”, so even without SIM it keeps flipping. Resetting mobile network connections hasn’t done anything.

Hopefully a patch can be released soon - right now the phone is not properly usable.

Sim is trying to connect all the time and battery is draining really fast

I also have the same SIM / connection issue as reported by other users. I cannot properly connect to a cellular network. This basically means the phone only works when I am connected to a wlan-network. Also, all functionality for which a cellular network is needed doesn’t work either. This means that making and receiving calls, sending or receiving text messages is not possible anymore. Basically, this update has broken the core functionality of the phone.

When can we expect a patch?

Has anyone heard anything from Nothing support regarding the connection-issue? I do not see a response from them in this topic, silence on their social media-channels and i didn’t get a response (yet) on my message to Nothing-support….

BernardBakker I got a generic copy paste “Have you tried restarting and plugging it back in again?” message from support. Replied to that saying it’s the most recent software update and other people are reporting the same issue with the new update hoping to get an actual response.

…to ensure people move away from the Nothing-brand. It really doesn’t make them feel like they are taken seriously.

It’s frustrating this issue isn’t being taken completely seriously. At least that’s the impression they make of it. It’s been one week now for me without being able to receive calls, luckily I don’t depend on it a lot but this is the core functionality of a phone. Beyond that, it’s impossible to make use of mobile data since it is offline over half the time and whenever SIM is turned on, the battery drains rapidly. By the way, I don’t know if other users are experiencing this, but even with SIM turned completely off my battery is still draining notably quicker than before the update, even with GPS, Bluetooth and NFC turned off. Whatever is causing the issue is 100% related to the firmware update and it completely breaks our phones, if there was a simple “reset update” option this issue could be averted but since that option does not exist I’m hoping (and expecting) that they will resolve this issue soon. I was extremely satisfied with my Nothing Phone… until now.

Kakarot44 Anche io la stessa risposta; Dopo un giorno mi dicono di effettuare un reset del telefono. Ma non è la soluzione al problema visto che l’ultimo aggiornamento ha mandato in tilt molti utenti. Mi aspetto un patch e poi al massimo resetto il telefono, prima effettuo un backup almeno ho le applicazioni salvate.

Just received a (longer) response from Nothing support, you can find their solution below. I have taken all mentioned steps. The issue is not solved.

However, reading their response, I can only conclude that Nothing is not, yet, aware that the cause of the issue lies with their firmware.

Please try the troubleshooting steps below to fix your phone.

Cause of the issue:

1. The phone hasn’t given permission for the app to use the data network.

2. App error.

3. phone (2) system error.

Solutions:

1. Check that the app network permissions are opened.

2. Uninstall and reinstall the app.

3. Restart the phone or restore system settings.

4. Test whether other phones can use it normally. If it doesn’t, it is recommended that you contact the app’s support page.

What do I do if I cannot use the 5G network to access the Internet?

At present, some areas may not support 5G network. It is recommended that you ask your friends or call the network operator to confirm whether your location supports 5G network and whether your SIM card supports 5G network.

If both the local network and the SIM card support 5G network, you can try the following methods to fix it:

1. Enter Settings->Network& internet->SIMs to check whether the network setting option of the SIM card selected in data preference is correct:

Settings->Network& internet->SIMs, select the corresponding network card, check whether the Mobile Data switch is turned on;

mythras Ho notato anche io il problema sulla batteria, ora le devo ricaricare almeno ⅔ volte al giorno. all’ultima mail ricevuta dal servizio clienti , dove mi chiedevano di effettuare un reset per verificare se il telefono tornasse a funzionare correttamente ho risposto "Ancora non ho effettuato il ripristino delle informazioni di fabbrica anche perché altri utenti hanno il mio stesso identico problema. O abbiamo tutti il telefono fallato e che si falla dopo l’aggiornamento oppure è uscito un aggiornamento che ha recato problemi. La seconda ha una logica più coerente. Mi aspetto un aggiornamento patch migliorativo e che porti i nostri Nothing a normale funzionamento altrimenti dovrò comprare un nuovo smarphone e ahime effettuare recensioni negative nel web per un problema sul vostro supporto . Mi dispiace buttare uno smartphone, pagato con sacrifici, per problemi avuto dopo un aggiornamento.

When i am looking at your messages, i noticed that three(?) of you are from the Netherlands, Massimilliano, sembra che tu venga dall’Italia. I am Dutch, but currently in Italy. I wonder if only Dutch and Italian users are affected or does this issue affect users from other countries as well..
