Audio pauses for ~1 second when minimizing apps (Phone 3a, Nothing OS 3.1/3.2)

Hello everyone,

I’ve noticed a consistent issue on my Nothing Phone 3a running Nothing OS 3.1 / 3.2.

Whenever I minimize certain apps, the audio stream briefly pauses for about one second before resuming in the background.

This happens across multiple apps, not just one — for example:

YouTube

YouTube Music

Instagram

Facebook

It looks like the system forces the app into a short “pause state” when switching from foreground to background, which interrupts the audio.

I’ve already:

Disabled battery optimization for these apps

Allowed background activity

Checked app settings for background playback

…but the issue still persists.

Is this a known bug in Nothing OS for the 3a series?

Are there any upcoming fixes or workarounds planned (maybe in OS 3.3 or OS 4.0)?

BalanS I have the exact same issue… I also did a full reset of the phone, but with no result.

BalanS I noticed it this afternoon. I had seen your post in the morning but before now, I wasn’t facing that issue. I think I had an update on the launcher - I’m confident it must be the culprit. When I close Twitter and Instagram, that’s when I get that breather. I hope it’s fixed soon.

Does anyone facing nothing phone 3a lagging issue? My audio stops syncing for 2 to 3 seconds every time I close a social media app and a WhatsApp call. If you guys look closely the audio isn’t synced to the video

Yup audio sync prob with my 3a also while using earphone becomes worse

Facing this on my Phone 3a Pro as well. Noticable audio lag. Probably a launcher bug. I have already shared a feedback on this. Probably they fix it soon

Since a week from now, the audio (spotify, youtube, …) cuts out for 1 sec when i’m closing apps from meta (instagram, facebook, threads). Complete reset of the phone and deletion of the apps did not work. It only appears when swiping up the app, not when completely closing the apps. Any suggestions?

I see the same issue…there is a sec or 2 of audio disconnect while minimizing or close those meta apps….I see that issue since updating to sep patch on my phone 2a…looking for a s/w fix soon

Same exact issue here and I’m using nothing 2. This started after the update.
