Nothing Gallery Face Recognition

I’ve almost 1000 photos on my Nothing Gallery. I’m using the nothing phone 3a. In those photos there are almost 9-10 clear face people including me and my family members. But the problem is:

Nothing Gallery only showing some unknown and suddenly captured people face. I don’t even know them.
I can’t reset the face recognition data

It’s a very special and demanding feature. But it’s not working properly….!

imhasib hey I just bought the phone, does having that many photos slows down the phone and will the battery last atleast for 1 and half day?, I’m afraid of the phone getting slow within a year lol

Nicouschulas hey bro.. thanks for the suggestion…! It works but it changes everytime I put my phone on charger and leave…😅😅

Yeah, same; many photos are skipped completely for some reason, not just photos with faces/people. And many are in totally wrong categories (my cat is under “Food” for example). But then again it perfectly recognises someone’s face when they wear a hat + sunglasses and there is like 10 pixels of visible skin so who knows, it’s random I guess 🤷‍♂️

imhasib if still some photos are not recognised , next time when you put your phone overnight charging, open explore in gallery app and lock phone. I don’t know why but it boost the recognition.

And there will be some photos which will never be recognised. Or some badly recognised.

Eshanthk hello! It is a common thing that if your phone storage is always more than 75% full, then it slows down the performance of the device. I have seen Nothing Phone 1 users. Their phone is still running smoothly, and getting updates. In that regard, Nothing does a lot of work on software updates. So I hope this phone will run smoothly for about 3-4 years…!

Eshanthk I can last a whole day with just 90% of battery whiles I play call of duty, my data is always on, hours on social media - Twitter, I mean. And I play music before I sleep because I struggle to sleep on my own. And sometimes it shocks me. For example yesterday evening, I was having 23% at 9pm before bed. Played music from that time through to 5am this morning when I woke up and I had 11% battery left. So the battery, yeah, it’s pretty fking strong. Not to forget I use it outdoors almost all the time too. The hot weather doesn’t have anything on the heating of the phone. Top top phone if you ask me. 👍

Suppose I put my phone on charge for the first time. Some faces were recognized well,

When I put it on charge for the second time, all the previous faces were gone and new faces appeared. In this way, the more I put it on charge, the more the face data changes.

imhasib clear the data in settings for gallery app, it won’t delete your personal data.

You have to keep your phone on charging even after it reaches 100% (I have set mine to 90%). The device should also be connected to Wi-Fi for it to recognise the faces.

And yes it may recognise falsely sometimes.

As someone mentioned documents as buildings.

This feature is not refined yet. Hope in 4.0 it will work better .

Jasonnnn open gallery, you will find 🔍 icon in the bottom. Tap it. And here you are. There are categorised photos. People, buildings, transport, and many more.

For me people and documents are important. But not working smoothly.

This feature in google files work much smoother. I search any keyword, and files provides me every document having that perticular word.

Muthu_z0RXULPXzR this technic works for me, you can try…:

Clear the face data form the gallery settings, then reopen the gallery app, put you phone on charger and simply lock the phone, (don’t close the gallery). Leave it whole night or for a long time.

Edit: False alarm. It does work for me. I didn’t realise you had to tap the search icon. I don’t use the app and had never tried searching.

Although, it’s pretty poor and inconsistent tbh.

I didn’t know it even did facial recognition.

My Phone 2 had thousands of local photos and not a single face, and my Phone 3 currently has +600 photos and not a single face has been recognised.
