Carl Missing Battery Icon Update: The new battery icon design introduced in Android 16 hasn’t been implemented, possibly due to OEM customization delays or prioritization issues.

- Clock Visibility on Lock Screen: Lack of adaptive clock color options makes the lock screen clock hard to read against white wallpapers, affecting usability.

collin Our design and product principles are that trust comes from clarity and reliability, not novelty. We don’t want to ask users to abandon familiar patterns and accept a black-box AI. We’re taking the opposite route. Essential doesn’t replace interaction - we are thinking deeply about keeping the user in the loop and in control. That way AI feels like an extension of your judgment, not a gamble. Adoption starts with small, reliable wins

Ant-e-so-shial If we look back at the past 100 years of technological development, there’s always been one constant: human progress. We started Nothing because we felt that it had stopped. The smaller, creative companies of the past all became huge, and had no incentives to take risks. And the market was set up in a way where it was near impossible for new players to break through. This was what we wanted to take on.

So that’s the inspiration. Human progress. That’s what tech companies should drive. Humans are creative problem solvers, and we want to create products that inspire and enable creativity. Today’s announcement was just the first step, it really feels like day 1 and there’s still 99.9% left to do.

Donnacha Slowly, then quickly. The smartphone is a great place to start. People love their phones and phones are not going away anytime soon. However, in the next few years there will be an explosion of new hardware form factors thanks to advancements in AI, not just from us, but from the entire industry. These are really unprecedented times we’re living in and it’s super exciting!

Carl Hello everyone, I have a question. Does anyone know why I can’t update my Nothing Phone 2 to the Nothing OS 4 beta? The system version is the same as it says in the statement, but at the end it appears EEA and it gives an error when I try to update even though I have already downloaded the update and everything if anyone can help me I would be grateful.

Adnan_28 Hey Adnan, not all of them will. It depends on the Essential App’s functionality. Some do not connect to the internet at all - such as our Tic Tac Toe game.

I am Rahil, I designed the Fortune Widget (For community widgets).

I love what Nothing has been doing lately. I love the community involvement. However, I am not the biggest believer in AI.

You previously mentioned Folding phones as manufacturer led innovation, I think AI is in the same category. It’s being pushed on to people without any regards to the ethical side of the equation.

Most AI uses copyrighted works (Anthropic and OpenAI are both dealing with legal battles) and it is clearly an anti-human movement, it is also heavily unsustainable with several environmental concerns.

My question is simple - How can you convince someone like me of this technology ? Do you believe its pros outweigh its cons and why is the industry pushing so hard for this tech ?

Carl I barely noticed only 3 features in my phone 2. The quick settings(minor), two new clock faces and new camera app. Is that all for the 4.0 major update?

Can we expect something more? Its a big disappointment. Already we missed the essential space which was a major feature.
