📱 Nothing Phone (2) – 2 Years Long Term Review
I have been using the Nothing Phone (2) for the last 2 years. I bought it for around ₹60,000 on EMI (55k + charger + EMI cost). At that time, I had just started my job and wanted a high-performance smartphone. I could have gone for an iPhone or a Pixel, but I chose the Nothing Phone (2) because of its unique design and clean software.
âś… Pros
Battery: Still gives good backup.
Display: Bright and smooth, great for media.
Software: Clean UI with no unnecessary apps, feels like Pixel.
Performance: After 2 years, still smooth for daily use.
Design: Transparent back with glyph lights looks unique.
❌ Cons
Camera: Weak for the price. Boosts colors, poor dynamic range, not flagship-level.
Heating: Gets hot during heavy gaming.
Updates: I don’t get proper notifications, I have to check manually or see on YouTube.
Software Lags: Earlier it was worse, now improved but still happens sometimes.
đź’ My Experience
At launch, Nothing Phone (2) was compared with iPhones and Samsung flagships. But now with Phone (3), there are no such comparisons — meaning Nothing lost some of its strong position.
Pricing strategy is confusing. For example, Phone (2a) should have launched together with Phone (2), just like Apple launches all models at once (base, Pro, Pro Max).
Within 6 months, the phone’s price dropped below ₹40,000 on Flipkart. So I felt like I lost value.
⚖️ Verdict
The Nothing Phone (2) is a good-looking phone with smooth software, but if you are a camera-focused user or expect true flagship performance, you might feel disappointed. I like the software even after 2 years, but the camera and pricing strategy need big improvements if Nothing wants to compete with iPhones and Samsungs.
I’m not a Nothing fanboy — this phone didn’t impress me much. I know some Nothing fans will tell me to just change it or buy another phone, but I want to say: why should I buy another phone after spending so much? Yes, I could buy a different one, but I’m a middle-class guy — I invested in this phone and I want to get my money’s worth. Right now I won’t buy any more Nothing gadgets, and I won’t let anyone at home buy them either.
This is not hate — it’s just my personal experience, and I wanted to share it.
