The app works, which in itself is just so cool considering how much trouble others were having and that it doesn’t really need anything extra to work. Just the app, one permission and boom, it works.
As of now, it lets you assign double and triple taps to whatever app you wish for which I think is quite nice. I like that it keeps the functionality of the Essential Key as it still lets you take notes.
It opens apps and is quite responsive at it too. But there’s a couple nit picks that I have. When you double tap, it does open up the Essential Space for a split second before opening up the designated app. I don’t really think it’s much of an issue, just something I noted. Also, as of now, it can only open apps, not mess around with settings and stuff which is also fine but I’d love to see more functionality get added with time.
I think this is a nice tool for people who have been wanting a way to remap the Key. I understand why Nothing doesn’t let you do it by default, I think they want us to actually use the feature, a higher adoption rate means a higher chance of it actually developing and progressing into something that’s a core essential part of the Nothing lineup. Still, more options the better and this is one!
