It was found when I updated my Phone (3a) to NOS 4.0, although it was disabled by default, the onboarding for OS 4.0, urged to enable it. Nothing pls go back to the roots, we don't want none of this.

chasnikilya come back when we get a final version and if it’s mandatory then that’d be a good reason to complain about, until then you can’t know anything that will happen, they might listen and roll it back. What I’m trying to say is that the people who always complain in general are always expecting the worse outcome possible when the smallest change is made

When Nothing was announced there wasn’t must hype. Then gradually people started falling in love with the OS and the hardware. I’m new to this community so I don’t know what was the state of this before I joined. People are getting back at each other for trivial things and there’s nothing civil about this. Just because you guys have gone ahead and posted a thread that you’re proud of doesn’t help get things back to normal. What is the purpose of beta? To gauge feedback and make changes based on that. I hope you guys understand. Try to gather information before giving the community a piece of your mind. Blindly posting accusations is not gonna solve anything. I know that folks are gonna get back at me for this.

Anonymous958 community was not like this at all before maybe 5-6 months or so. It’s clearly a different space now. It’s frustrating and a bit depressing seeing it today like this….if this continues I’ll most probably leave it after few moons.

I have read more about it in the last day.

I guess, it really boils down to if my data is shared to another company without my permission, i.e. is my information with the Glimpse provider if I don’t employ it. Should I care, as it all goes through Google anyway?

I would assume so, if NTL is receiving an estimated £10/headset (that remuneration is speculation on my end).

I have a distinct feeling that this was rolled out NOW because the NP3a_lite will likely have a ton of stuff (IG, FB, Netflix, etc…) so the pricepoint is good (239 EUR in France) and probably less than the CMF2P in India, so this is just softening us for that blow.

That’s an interesting point — it almost feels like Lock Glimpse might just be testing how far the market can tolerate this kind of feature. After this whole situation, I guess if similar ad-related features appear in future budget models, the backlash probably won’t be as strong anymore.

Maggi Goreng I’m not sure that the consumer has any say in the matter more than accept it or vote with your wallet.

I’ll have to see the specs for £200 with VAT and determine if the hassle is worth it. i ran a grey market Mi 10 Youth Edition from HK (at the was least expensive 5x periscope at the time and had some stellar video effects like front and rear recording in parallel and Magic Clone) in the UK as the cameras were worth it and Xiaomi.EU was better than the regular Global/EEA ROM.

At least NTL is being transparent about the existence of it. It will curious to see what transpires when the user doesn’t activate it. Is data still sent to the servers?

Also, it seems that NOTHING X is using baidu servers. I can’t confirm that as I haven’t tested it myself but there is evidence available showing that’s the case. (Still getting a lot of server is busy with my CMFW3P, the question is who holds that data? I accepted the agreement without reading the T&C’s.

Nothing users, let’s unite, Nothing announced bloatware and ads on their devices, the brand that sold us devices with a clean Android experience and always criticized bloatware betrayed us, loyal fans, and I’m sure that this hurts me as much as it hurts you.

Oh. I didn’t even recognised it’s an ad feature first. I’ve turned it on and was like “oh, different wallpapers, that’s cool”. I turned it off because it doesn’t fit my aesthetic rn. And then I saw some posts about it and set it again to see it really has ads. But, let’s say, it’s pretty accurate advertising, not a big application banner in regular apps like Xiaomi has. It’s not cool of course, but still not that bad. At my point.

Assuming that this was made to earn something from software (as I’ve read), maybe you have other ideas how Nothing could stay positive in financial stuff🤔

Another idea, offer people to pay one time to get rid of bloatware if they want to ? Give people choices at least. If they are paid 20Euros per unit, i can pay that so my data don’t leak (again) and to have my phone without that thing spying every second of my life.

What about, maybe, a subscription plans in ES with different price to allow users pay for extra 300 mins, 600 mins or unlimited.
Another thing is monthly sponsorship, boosty and etc. for example. I was a sponsor of our local Instagram analogue network nowapp.me, and we had a Boosty monthly subscription what’s about a few euros. So we had extra news about new app updates, a chat with the team and CEO in Telegram and live streams with them. Idk but for someone who could wish to support Nothing that’d be a great idea. Maybe I would also join it and give my little point to that future growth of the company. I guess there definitely are those members that want to give their financial support, so why not?
Any different care program maybe? In supported countries. So paying a little bit extra will provide a free repair, for example. Idk I guess something could exist, but I can’t prove it as I’m in unsupported country at all

At my point Nothing does great with review program, maybe… idk, any creative contests for media creators, especially in unsupported countries, so people could learn more about brand at least.

I’m personally that person that shares content about tech, astrology and Nothing in general on my local Threads account. Recently I did a little review of a new NOS4.0 beta update. Everytime I find someone from native-speakers in CIS that are using Nothing products, a few others are interested in brand and likes its creativity. But I’m too small for making someone really buy Nothing and CMF products, I only have 350 followers for now. If a few more people could do the same, others could be more interested. Mostly our tech-bloggers aren’t even telling about Nothing.

I’m really disappointed with the new Lock Glimpse feature, even if it’s only for the beta preview. This suggests that the brand is starting to take the user experience of its budget phones for granted. It goes against what Carl Pei said that a phone should help users be productive and offer a clean, distraction-free experience.

As a former Xiaomi user, I left that brand because of all the bloatware and unnecessary junk they shipped with their phones. I placed my trust in Nothing to be different, but this is truly disappointing. This feature feels just like the Glance ads on Xiaomi devices, which completely ruin the simple and smooth experience we were promised.

Please remove it and stay true to the vision of offering a productive, distraction-free phone experience.
