Nothing OS doesnt feel unique?

The Nothing team doesn’t seem to care that other phone brands have unique UI designs and icons. Nothing OS doesn’t even have a proper calling interface or a built-in document opener. How can someone spend 40k–45k on a phone that lacks so many basic features?

And even with Android 16, it’s still the same theme and the same interface. How will this work? What will attract people to buy this phone — just the “long-lasting” tagline?

Those of us who already bought a Nothing phone might slowly move away from the brand if there are no meaningful changes in the UI.

emonrakib35 having used few other OS also, i dont feel this is true in my opinion. Having Google Dailer or Google Photos doesnt mean that the software is weak. While Nothing keep on adding their uniquely styled apps like Nothing Recorder, Nothing Gallery and the famous widgets, the google apps are quite features rich, smooth and nice. Personally, i still prefer Google Photos app over anything.

For dailer, Nothing has enabled most demanded feature like discreet call recording using a widget as well as essential key now.

With the unique widgets, dot font and the icon pack, i feel Nothing OS continues to be very unique and polished. This has also been echoed by multiple youtubers also including the top ones like mkbhd, whosetheboss etc

Speak for yourself, I want the UI to stay pretty much the same, I bought the phone partly for that UI.

I feel there is a lot of asking for change just for the sake of change, people needing something new, just to fulfill a desire for something new.

arpan2308 I completely agree with you that the smoothness is fine, but along with smoothness, uniqueness is also important. Why should we need to install third-party apps just to open documents? Even for videos, we can only crop — nothing else without third-party apps.

I think Nothing OS should have better app icon designs, an improved calling interface, and a built-in document opener.

That way, Nothing OS would feel truly complete.

Pixel doesn’t have anything special either, it uses the same google apps that every phone has. And people love it for it

If you used other operating systems like OxygenOS or One UI before using Nothing OS, you’d understand how much users enjoy a phone when the UI is beautiful.

One UI and OxygenOS have only lost market share because of the green line issue — but in terms of software, they’re still the best.

emonrakib35 Your original post was about lack of changes in the UI leading to users leaving. I think nothing has already hit the nail on the perfect design system as so many people here love it, make community apps around it, and want nothing to make their own system apps like dialer to match the theme.
