Hey everyone,
I’ve been active here for a while, and I’ve got to say — the Nothing community has become one of the most toxic tech spaces I’ve seen recently. And honestly, the main reason behind this mess is the fanboys.
These fanboys don’t just defend Nothing — they go out of their way to argue, attack, or troll anyone who gives valid criticism or even helpful suggestions. It’s reached a point where people are scared to share honest feedback because someone will pop up to mock them.
Some even create new threads just to troll or provoke people who are already frustrated with Nothing’s decisions, calling them haters. These lead us to even more chaos.
Let’s think about this logically — we’re all Nothing users here. Why else would someone go out of their way to create an account on the Nothing website and keep checking it every few days? It’s not like there’s an app or reward system for this. We all care about the brand in some way — otherwise we'd leave.
But lately, every time someone criticizes Nothing for adding bloatware or breaking promises, a few people jump in calling them “haters” or “crybabies.”
Come on. We’re customers who paid for a premium experience — we have every right to speak up.
Why should a consumer have to come up with solutions? Even when we do, those good suggestions are ignored while the trolls get all the attention. And that constant back-and-forth turns every thread into a warzone.
Because of this behavior, people are leaving the community. I’ve literally seen one user stop posting entirely, while another got banned after things escalated. Everyone played a part in that outcome, but the constant trolling is what keeps triggering these reactions.
So yeah, this community isn’t toxic because of criticism. It’s toxic because of how some people respond to criticism. We all need to chill a bit and remember we’re in the same boat — we bought Nothing products because we believed in the brand’s promise. Let’s act like a community, not a battlefield.
Now let’s get back to actual feedback instead of drama.
About the bloatware:
Everyone hates ads — that’s why people use browsers like Brave or Firefox, just to skip them. So when Nothing, a brand that marketed itself around minimalism and a clean experience, starts adding adware (Lock Glimpse) and Meta Services, of course users are going to react strongly.
If they really wanted to make money through partnerships, they could’ve at least added apps that offer some value — and still keep them optional. For example:
Netflix or Prime Video: Earlier, Nothing refused to pre-install Netflix in the name of minimalism, which cost us HDR support. They could strike a deal now — users who want it can keep it, others can uninstall.
Epic Games: They offer free games every week. Pre-installing it would actually benefit users and still make Nothing some money. Win-win.
ChatGPT: Since Nothing already integrates ChatGPT widgets and toggles, why not partner officially? Let users decide if they want to keep it.
See the pattern? The goal isn’t “no partnerships,” it’s “smart partnerships.” Meta Services is just data collection — nobody needs it for Facebook or Instagram to work.
About the Essential Key:
I’ve stopped using Essential Space because of privacy concerns, so the key is basically useless now. Let us remap the Essential Key to something else without needing third-party apps. That’s such a small change but would mean a lot for user customization.
About apps and AI:
Nothing relies way too much on Google apps and services. It’d be great to see Nothing develop its own dialer, gallery with built in AI tools instead of relying on google photos, or file manager with that signature Nothing design — something unique and lightweight.
Also, every brand pays to use Google’s AI APIs these days, and that’s probably why Nothing’s not adding heavy AI features. But there’s an alternative — why not partner with ChatGPT, like Apple did?
ChatGPT gets training data, Nothing gets AI tools without Google’s ecosystem, and users get actual choice. If someone doesn’t like AI tools, they can just skip using them.
At the end of the day, we all want the same thing — a clean, minimal, user-friendly Nothing experience like we were promised.
We paid for that. And we should be able to criticize it, defend it without being trolled or mocked.
So yeah, let’s keep this thread civil. If you disagree, that’s fine… explain your point. If someone’s trolling, don’t argue, just flag and move on.
Let’s make this place constructive again. We’re all on the same team — we just want Nothing to stay true to what made it special in the first place.
