We’ve released a new update for Headphone (1) that improves voice capture accuracy when used with Nothing Phone (3).
Developed in collaboration with Subtle Computing, the update introduces a new voice isolation algorithm that better separates speech from background noise in Essential Space, resulting in clearer and more natural recordings.
What’s Improved
When using Essential Space, your voice is now recognised more precisely in real time. The new algorithm filters out surrounding noise, removes competing voices, and keeps your natural tone intact. Whether you’re recording a quick thought, saving a reflection after a meeting, or capturing an idea on the go, your entries stay clear, focused, and true to how you speak.
How to Update
Make sure both your app and firmware are on the latest version:
Nothing X: 3.4.15
Firmware: 1.0.1.80
Go to Nothing X > Device Settings > Firmware Update to install.

This feature was co-developed with Subtle Computing, who specialise in voice isolation technology. Unlike standard voice tech that struggles in noisy places, the Subtle Voice Engine™ is trained on data from real-world environments to pick out your voice, even when you’re quiet and your surroundings are loud. Together, we fine-tuned their algorithm for Nothing devices to deliver cleaner and more natural voice capture inside Essential Space.
