Hi Nothing Team & Community,

After updating to Nothing OS 4.0, I’m facing serious performance issues specifically related to volume control and Instagram, while the rest of the UI is actually smooth and well optimized.

Major issues observed:

Heavy lag and stutter while increasing or decreasing volume

During volume change, the lag affects all running apps (audio, video, social apps)

Instagram is extremely laggy, with very low FPS, especially while scrolling and watching reels

These issues are consistent and easily reproducible, not random. Even a simple volume adjustment causes momentary freezes, which makes media usage frustrating.

What I’ve already tried:

Device restart
Clearing background apps
Even re installing the app

No improvement so far

The update otherwise feels good, but these two issues are severely impacting daily usage. Requesting the Nothing team to please look into this and provide a fix in the next update.

If other users are experiencing similar problems with volume lag or Instagram FPS drops on Nothing OS 4.0, please comment or upvote so this issue gets proper attention.

I have the nothing 2a, and recently after the 4.0 OS update and Android 16 update, I’ve noticed a large amount of glitches and lags in my phone during normal activities. Anyone else facing this problems?

I’ve already lost faith in a batteryFix.

I’ve just accepted that now. They just won’t be able to do it anymore. Like so many things they promised us, the users of a 2a. I just refer to the essential key . I’m still waiting for it.

If the battery performance has degraded so much that I can no longer actively use my device, the battery flies out and a new one simply comes in.

Although this costs money, it is easy on the nerves enormously.

For me it took until the enlightenment came, that nothing will not get the battery problem under control and it is simply easier to buy a new battery and have peace of mind.

How did you get the problem with the poor battery life under control?

H your third-party apps or via ADB your third-party apps or via ADBOr do you install third-party apps? or via ADBHave you installed third-party apps? Or disabled some options via ADB?

You can write in your tips & tricks to extend the battery life.

For one or the other there is certainly still help.

derDennis …did you performed “factory reset” and tried clean OS behaviour? Did you inspect, what appllication consumes most energy. Did you changed “something” in your phone OS. Did you ask your operator, whether they changed anything in their systems? No? Do it first.

And I can read from your post that you perform huge experiments with your phone, so Iḿ pretty sure your phone is in bad condition due to your faults.

My NP2a is OK.

I have actually changed a lot. But I only did that so that the battery would last the day at all. For example, I turned off the background use of almost all apps. I have also deactivated the notification in many apps. And to answer your question. I reset the phone after the penultimate update, because it said that “now” the battery problem has been fixed.
