Does the new Essential search function feel slow?

Essential search which became downloadable is a great utility app with integrated web search now, but feels tragically slow for real use, i.e. it has a cool loading animation where the search bar shifts accent colour to the edges but it feels too slow to be a fully cohesive mobile utility, i.e. in my day to day usage of a typical Google search with a good internet connection is snappier but this new thing is pretty cool and I wanted to know if it’s the same experience for others?

shadoe17 Yes indeed it’s not too snappy if we compare it with an actual Google search.

However, if you think about it, this extra time is necessary for the AI model (Gemini) to fetch the relevant information from the web and then synthesize it.

After all, Essential Search is meant for short and essential, results. For full on researches searching online on your own is still the go-to

Same here, it tooks 3-4 seconds to show the information i need. I’m using Phone 3a Pro btw, maybe it works faster on Phone 3 ?

leoth hey mate, I do get the notion that it’s for short quick searches but given current search speeds for almost every search engine and their ai thingy, essential search feels tad bit slower than most, idk if it’s optimization or api fetch matter but that polish would make it an A++ utility

Not only is the AI query slow, it has a small delay when searching apps too. So I’ll quickly type “firefox” and press enter, but it only registers the F key and opens “flud” instead
