"Process system isn't responding" Flashes on App Launch (Nothing Phone 3a)

Hello Nothing Community,

I’m experiencing a very strange and fast-flashing alert on my Nothing Phone (3a), and I’m hoping to see if anyone else has run into this or has a potential fix.

The Problem

When I open almost any application (e.g., [Mention 2-3 specific apps like: Instagram, Camera, or even Settings]), an alert flashes on the screen for less than a second—a “nano second” as far as I can tell.

The text of the alert is: “Process system isn’t responding” (or very similar to the standard Android system error). It disappears too quickly to interact with the “Wait” or “Close App” buttons.

Omar Faruk Khan me too! I’m getting the same annoying thing! No idea what app causes it tho as is way to fast to see. Getting really annoying now doesn’t bode well for nothing in my future if my new phone keeps doing this. Shame as I love essentials button but never had this before. Been doing it for a week on mine. Since I updated to os 4.0

Have force stopped and clears cache of nothing launcher and switched to MICROSOFT LAUNCHER - see if that does anything. If it does or does not, I’ll update my reply.

I am experiencing a similar issue. After restarting the device, it disappears for a few minutes and then starts again.

LabahangLimbu I think it’s working now. There are no more pop-ups.

Go to Settings → Apps → search for Nothing Launcher → tap Clear Cache → Force Stop, and then restart the device.

After several hours..

Well, it’s not fixed yet. The pop-up still shows up.

jaminallen I found a solution - the crashing app was Log Tool. I went to Settings → Apps, searched for Log Tool, cleared the cache and data, and then force-stopped it. This reduced the issue, but it didn’t fix it completely. The pop-up still appears sometimes, but not as often as before.

Thanks! I will do that now. Have to also say - the Microsoft Launcher switch seems to have solved the issue. Not happened yet. Will do the log thing now thanks

Also having this issue on 3A, clearing cache/data for log tool made no difference. also appeared after the update for me.

cek Clearing the Log Tool cache/data and force-stopping it actually helped me. You can record your screen and when the pop-up appears stop the recording and review the video to see which app is crashing

I changed to Microsoft Launcher …and I’ve had no issues since. So it’s deffo the Nothing Launcher.

Actually scratch that. It just did it for the first time. But it’s no where near as often as least. So who knows what it is. But I do know it’s annoying!

I am still having the same issue. I’ve now moved over to an iPhone as it’s so constant.

However I have had a definite update from Nothing Support via email. I will paste it here:

They also said this in a follow up email:

“Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

We completely understand that you are no longer interested in using our phone since you already have a new device, and we fully respect your decision to resell the unit once it has been fixed in the upcoming update. Please kindly wait for the software update, which is designed to address the issues you have experienced and ensure the device performs smoothly. Once the update is installed, your phone should be in optimal condition.”

So there you go. It should be fixed later this month. Took me a while to get someone who was actually helpful but this fellow seems genuine.
