Random AI usage on Phone (3a) - help

Recently, like a day or 2 ago, I’ve been noticing the ai usage indicator randomly popping up in the status bar. I don’t use any ai features or essential space, the only time it should be activated is when I accidentally press the essential space button. But it doesn’t happen that often. What is going on with the ai? I have never noticed it happening before, but now it keeps popping up alot. And how can I disable it?

I have a phone 3a pro running nothing os 4.0. Today I used the essential space to make a reminder for next Monday. Since then I have been seeing the essential logo pop up in the upper right corner of the screen. I also checked the “ai usage” section in the phone’s settings and essential space seems to be using gemini’s image to text function. is this thing taking screenshots and feeding them into an ai? what is going on?

djpejot Hey, I think what’s happening is that every time you use the Essential Key (like you did today, when setting a reminder), it takes a screenshot and uses Gemini 2.5 Flash to process the content. That information is then sent to Essential Space, where you can see the relevant details when you open it.

Daniel That seems reasonable. However it just keeps going. Essential Space/Gemini keeps analysing something every 15 minutes or so. I am not pressing the key at all.

djpejot I’m having this same issue. Have u found anyway to disable or turn it off? i really don’t like this going on in the background for no reason

littleMAHER1 i did make it stop, uninstalling the updates from essential space and gemini and installing them again worked. however you should know that this deleted everything from my essential space (not that i used it that often but i sort of wish it didn’t do that…)
