Back in October
I still remember how happy and special I felt buying Nothing phone (2). Phone(2) has a special place in my heart since its the first phone I purchased with my salary and for the fact that it was led by Carl Pei. Initially, I felt very much privileged and out of the world for owning the device however with time I realized its just like every other smartphone company in a way trying to climb up. After the NOS 4.0 post I was extremely sad and frustrated over that fact that the company was introducing Lock screen Ads and Bloatware however they handled the reception from the overall community and did good. Bravo Nothing!
Feedback
I was hesitant to install NOS 4.0 on Phone(2) because of the fear of getting bombarded with lock screen glimpse, however luckily they didn’t include it in the update which is great and still makes me love my device. The UI/UX are changed in a very subtle manner making it look negligible but I am still happy with it. The problems/issues that were originally present (Camera Optimization, No HDR on Netflix, etc ) are still present, however as the last phone update I’ve learnt the company is there to make profit selling new hardware and doesn’t have time/resource to invest in the older device. My only complaint is Lock screen customization which could have been better however it is what it is.
TL;DR
Its a good update with subtle UI tweaks and no AI features unlike other OEMs
Personally, I am fine with the update and I hope in future nothing invests on a better hardware (Camera, SoC, Haptics)and go for Performance first and Aesthetics later approach. I am an Android Fanboy and won’t switch to iOS so this company is my only hope. Looking forward to great innovation! @Carl
