Battery Life with the New Nothing OS update

I have no idea what the devs at Nothing did with the new update but the battery on my Nothing Phone 3 is at an all time best especially with the standby/idle performance. Before, I used to use my phone for like 2-3 hours and the battery drain on standby was garbage to the point, I thought it was normal for all phones but I feel the stable NOS4.0 was really not that great on battery life and performance but this new update has made the phone feel smoother/performant and most of all, insane standby performance. I hope those who see this post can also give a feedback on your experiences has been and hopefully its been as positive as it is for me. Good job Nothing!!

First i update nothing 4.0 beta update and after updating it the lockscreen widgets are freezing after every restart

And

Now i update nothing os 4.0 stable update and now my lockscreen and home screen both widgets are freezing after every restart

Have you face this problem and have you any solution of this bug

Same for me, I already thought the initial 4.0 release was an improvement, but my first impression of the latest 4.0 update for NP3 looks very promising indeed! 🤗

Coldpaw Likewise, as I mentioned above, the initial one was amazing to bring all the new features but my battery life felt the worst when it comes to standby, I have ever experienced in a really really long time. Each 10 mins or less, 1% was dropped while Nothing was being run. I could be wrong and it could be even worse. But anyways, now its looking great. I hope it stays this way when I truly test it tomorrow.

Yesterday i was at 3 full days and 8h00 with 11h40 of screen time. I don’t have update to 0s4 for now, but if it’s even better so yes that phone is pretty good.

Stereobasic Holy Crap!!! Which phone is that?! My Nothing Phone 3 didn’t even come close to the 2 digit battery life ever (tbh neither my other phones). Insane battery performance. I don’t know if you are gonna get any more improvements on the SOT besides the standby, my guy! I hope to get something like that. I will test tomorrow and send my battery performance tomorrow. Hopefully, it doesn’t disappoint me but with the way, its looking right now. I am gonna get something positive.

Stereobasic seems your web browser using most of your battery, try Brave browser or Duck duck go browser for improve battery usage.. also tweak app permissions to limit apps access and background activity.

Resend battery usage trend when you try those out

For me Nothing launcher app & my screen system seems to be my top battery drain in short time period.

Despite the bugs… the battery life with Android 16 is clearly much better (at least for me and many others)

I consistently get 10+ hours SOT, and have hit 12 which was never possible before of any version

That’s amazing to hear to be honest. It wasn’t for me with the initial update as I have mentioned. Great to hear that you are getting 10-12 hours SOT on a 3a with android 16. I hope I can get those with my 3 on android 16. Hopefully this update gets it there for me.

DIVYESH072Prajapati I have never faced this personally so when I got my Nothing 3, never had the widget issues then updated to initial stable update and still no issues. With the new update, still no issues. I hope you find out why you are faced with this.

Bifrost i have phone 3 btw.

I use my browser to access everything, YouTube, reddit etc, i don’t use dedicated social media apps. I’m fully satisfied with Firefox, absolutely no adds,i don’t want to change at all because everything is working absolutely fine and i already have good battery. Don’t need more than 2 days to be honest ( so having sometimes more than 3 is already crazy). I use adguard too and already use duckduckgo as search engine. To be perfectly clear for the screen shot i have sent i have traveled the Saturday, used 4g a lot every day, some gps, used Bluetooth on the car and then on the train to listen music 3 hours etc etc it’s not with just wifi in the dark lol it’s every day use.

Bifrost something has to use battery….I’m the same Chrome is always top as I use it for everything.

11+ hours is exceptional there pretty much is no further optimisation possible

Anonymous1078 in my experience using various other reputable brand devices I think 16 hours minimum full device usage is fair to expect on a full charge cycle. OS 4.0 giving 10/11 hours tops duration still needs some optimization, from all the data shared by you’ll it appears like basic fundamental tasks draining the battery most, browser app & screen system

My Nothing device screen is set to standard 60hz refresh also and screen system still draining alot of battery on phone 3a, I don’t think 3a got the OS update phone 3 got yet.

What screen display settings you’ll using?

Bifrost well the 3a is only 5000mah. Not getting much higher than that.

I have 120hz dynamic on and 5G.

If I spend 9 of those hours using Chrome where else is the battery usage going to come from exactly? 🤔
