Gawasrahul As usual, it depends on the requirements and expectations. On paper, the 3a Pro is the better device:
- A faster SoC offers better performance
- The camera setup is more useful, especially if you like to zoom into things
- It comes with 12 gigs of RAM (at least in Europe)
- It has better dust protection due to IP64 rating
- For Nothing fans, it offers a more pleasing Glyph interface with three light strips, the 3a Lite just offers an extremely basic, single blinking LED light
Having said this, the 3a Lite has some benefits on it’s own:
- More affordable
- It offer expandable memory and supports microSD with a capacity up to 2 TB
- Thinner and lighter
- Interestingly enough it has better build quality, since it uses a metal instead of a plastic frame
Software support for both phones is identical: Both will get major OS updates up until Android 18 and both will be supplied with security updates for six years. However due to the fact the 3a Lite is a newer phone, it will have around six month longer security update support in practice. Battery performance also should be very similar between both devices, since both feature the same battery capacity. The 3a Pro offers faster charging on paper, but I kind of doubt there is a huge difference in real world practice.
I’d say if your family member doesn’t care about the glyph lights, doesn’t really need the much better camera zoom capabilities and the performance edge, the 3a Lite might be overall a better choice. Especially if said family member would like lots of local storage (videos, MP3,…), due to the SD card support.
However if your loved family cares really cares and likes better camera quality and flexibility, especially when zooming in, the 3a Pro is a more solid choice due to the 3x zoom periscope camera.
