Has anyone else noticed Bluetooth audio jitters on Phone (3)?

I’ve been experiencing frequent audio stutters while using Bluetooth audio devices (especially on CMF Buds Pro 2). The connection stays active, but the audio intermittently jitters or drops for a split second, making listening uncomfortable. And it happens a lot, weirdly more when I’m walking.

Doesn’t seem accessory-specific because I noticed this with a Bluetooth speaker too.

Flagging this in case it’s a broader stability or codec-related issue on Phone (3). Or maybe audio stutter due to bluetooth packet loss?

Abhishek L. Yes! This happens very often on my Nothing Phone 3 mainly while the LDAC or Spatial Audio is Toggles ON of OFF.

This results in me having to restart the device in order to solve it, Or at random the song sounds static or has lots of distortions. Note: Primary bluetooth Device used is Nothing Ear 2 and issue is on all Bluetooth headsets, including CMF BUDS PRO 2.

Abhishek L. that happens with me too… I’ve cmf ph1 and cmf buds 2a… and while walking it stutters 2-3 times… and my guess is that this happens due to static electricity … i was happening more in winters…and now it barely happens 1-2 times when walking….

The problem is related to the specifics of the LDAC codec, if you need a temporary solution, then switch to LHDC in the Nothing X app. Unfortunately, as a permanent solution, only switching to more expensive headphones that can provide a stronger and more stable connection using LDAC will do. Personally, I do not experience problems when using in my hands and pockets, but since I often have to go a couple of walls away from the phone, then in favor of connection stability, I use LDHC. AAC, logically, will give you maximum stability, but you’ll have to sacrifice some sound quality. That’s just how it works technically.

I haven’t experienced this on my NP3 with neither Nothing Ear open nor Nothing Headphone 1.

Yes, I noticed it on my Ear Open while playing Genshin impact and every time that it happens i see the ping jumping from about 30ms to over 300ms, I am not sure if the two phenomenon are causally related but there is correlation for sure

Nope. I run the CMF Headphones Pro and haven’t had any issues so far. That hardware has been excellent on the NP3. The audio quality is lower on the CMF1 perhaps there are different codecs at work. I haven’t had any guttering at all.

Also, I usually use SoundCloud or YouTube as the audio source. Also, I also listen to music and I’m not asking the phone to play a video and BT audio in parallel, so I couldn’t discuss how that would work.

Sorry to hear you are having problems. I have the Ear 3, Ear Open and Headphones 1 and no jitters when using any of these with my Phone 3. I don’t play games on my phone.

I have the same problem. Jittery when my phone is in my pocket , but when i get it out of my pocket it works just fine. Phone 3A didn’t have this problem but Phone 3 is jittery with Ear 2024 and realme buds 6pro

lolifnotely if it’s same problem i don’t think it’s the earphone because i used my ear 2024 and realme buds with the Phone 3A and i had 0 issues. The issue started only after moving to Phone 3

I noticed that recently with NP3 and Realme Buds 7 as well, specially while walking, phone in the pocket and screen off. Happened with youtube music and amazon music. It was really irritating as if there was some interference.

JP Nah , i dont think it is static or anything like that . It never happened on Nothing Phone 3A but happened on Phone 3 , so it is something else entirely. The fact is , it should never happen. I had CMF 1 before the Phone 3A , during the time i travelled to different countries , zero issues with Nothing ear 2024 or realme bud 6 Air pro.

I have raised a support case , lets see what they say.

itc_c you’ll be shocked by hearing that static is also causing issues with touch sensitivity…

And I’m pretty sure that, that stutters are due static… it never happen when I’m not walking and my phone is not in my pocket…. You might be using your phone without case or in humid environment or touching something ground or wearing some material that doesn’t cause static…

I have the same issue as well while walking, but it only occurs for a few seconds tops for me. What I’ve realised is that the jitters occur when I’m standing at a specific spot and gradually diminish whenever I walk away from said spot. My guess is it has something to do with interference from other waves.

JP buddy it is happening with multiple users. Since Feb I’ve faced this multiple times…if the phone screen is off, in your pocket and you walk then audio starts stuttering. Reminds me of old Bluetooth devices from 2012 which used to get affected with any interference.

Most of us have been using Bluetooth devices for years now, and we know when there’s a real interference or a device issue. In some situations my other device work absolutely fine. It is a Nothing Phone 3 issue.

JP that’s sounds like a problem that needs to be fixed. It shouldn’t be that way because it did not happen on other nothing phone or other brands my friends use.

RitwikSondhi I’m not denying that that’s not an actual problem 🤷🏻 I’m just stating the cause… these issues can be fixed…buds are one of the product that has these issues…

My headphones 1 work perfectly fine..never had any issue….i have 1 other headphones and 2 more buds… and both buds have static interference…🤷🏻 happens just once in first few minutes then works fine

itc_c yup… optimisation is needed in so many things .. but that’s not a persistent issue so it’s manageable…

JP There’s no issues with earphones but Nothing Phone 3 itself, I own Realme Buds 7 and Galaxy Buds 2, when connected to NP 3 stutter happens. I’ve reported it, hope Nothing can fix it. I’ve only used NP 3 with Nothing OS 4, so no idea if things were fine before that. If not, then this is some hardware level issue.

I’ve recently upgraded from np1 to np3 and this issue is driving me insane. I usually put my phone into left back pocket and I literally can’t listen to music while walking outside. But inside buildings it works fine.

Once I go outside it’s literally unusable. Np1 worked flawlesssly. Support is useless, they provide generic fixes that do nothing. I’ve tried all the fixes I was able to find, nothing works.

My theory is that it’s poor phone engineering where the antenna is located in a bad spot so the signal gets blocked. And this is a “flagship” phone.

So if anyone is thinking about buying np3 - DONT. Unless you really don’t listen to music and don’t wear earbuds.
